It was stated around a chapter or three after Kihoon was fully taken away when they were about to run away together. In Yeon's mind it said something like 'I started suppressing my feelings for Kihoon because everytime something worse happened', which is sort of similar to the Kihoon of the current timeline as he suppressed his own feelings in fear of making an unfortunate event happen to Yeon because he cared about him, just as Yeon cared about Kihoon in their past life.
