I genuinely don't think any art form can be called slop, but I'll say most art that exists is only So-So. It's good enough to hold your attention for a while, but it's rare to find something which cuts through the noise around it and captivates your imagination. I would rather a series never get translated than read someone's machine translation of it. Yes/No
I'm personally of a mind that anyone can download the raws of a manga/manhwa/manhua and plug them into g・・gle gl・ss or some other A/I tool and get at least an approximation of what it says. So why would I want to see that posted?
What still makes scanlations unique is that they're the culmination of community effort and at their best, are not only accurate to the text of the work, but to the feelings the writer meant to convey. Some translators will even put in the extra work to learn and pass on cultural knowledge that enriches the experience for the reader.
That's my opinion, but machine translation is so rampant on here I wonder what everyone else thinks.
