based on my own interpretation from that scene where Alicia says she'll do anything to survive even if it means watching others (her siblings) die was that maybe she was by his own father. perhaps, that was the reason why she's being favored all this time and why she's becoming this selfish ass-btch—just so she could make it far and gets everything that was taken from her, which is through desires, money and wealth.
No she wasn't. She never was. Don't try to justify Alicia's terrible life decisions. She has always been selfish to the core and will always prioritize herself. She was favored simply because looked good enough to not get beaten every day unlike her siblings. While her trauma and awareness of their father's terrible abuse and living in miserably in poverty was ingrained to her and made her the greedy b*tch that she is.
Add to that the she feels that Paula sacrificing everything for her is what she deserves coz she knows Paula lives with the guilt of failing their other siblings. Alicia had been given plenty of chances to grow up and be better but seems that she's just too set on her ways.
She wants the good life but her actions and decisions fail her. And since she can't have it she deadass would rather drag the ONLY PERSON WHO LOVES HER UNCONDITIONALLY to be miserable with her.
