No she wasn't. She never was. Don't try to justify Alicia's terrible life decisions. She has always been selfish to the core and will always prioritize herself. She was favored simply because looked good enough to not get beaten every day unlike her siblings. While her trauma and awareness of their father's terrible abuse and living in miserably in poverty was ingrained to her and made her the greedy b*tch that she is.
Add to that the she feels that Paula sacrificing everything for her is what she deserves coz she knows Paula lives with the guilt of failing their other siblings.
