I think this is really interesting, not the story at this point, but the way authors react to how people take their stories. I think many of you have heard about Oda's reaction to fans calling One Piece sexist... and what does he do? Makes it more sexist. I'm not saying all authors reacts the same to negative comments, but I personally think the author has lost at least some of their motivation here. Even if the plot is still intact, it feels all over the place! That's true. I love this story. I love the characters. I love the art. And I hope people can keep their negative reactions in check, because it seems they're just killing the story.
It's fiction, and what really matters is not actually moral, good or bad, but being interesting or not. And unfortunately, I believe too many negative comments are killing its potential. So please people, back off, drop it if you hate it so much. You're ruining it for the other readers, and you're ruining it for the author, as unbelievable as it may sound! And don't say it's an illegal platform, the author doesn't care what we write here; that's not how the internet work.
I would have loved to be able to agree with you, except that the thing is all these opening chapters of Season 2 were already drawn and completed since at least last year. So no, the story isn’t becoming more r*pey just because the fans are criticizing the r*pe, so yeah no.
Also, criticism isn’t the same as negativity, it’s constructive feedback. It just seems like some people can’t accept opinions that differ from theirs.
No, I think the plot was already rapey, I think what's really happening here is that the plot is becoming lousy, since also no, the chapters aren't fully finished until they're uploaded.
I didn't say Hanse is reacting the same way as Oda, I said she's losing motivation. The story isn't as strong as the first season, because it was smashed too hard before, not on these recent chapters. So, maybe we can start trying not to destroy it from this point on?
Also, it’s not even about what’s good or bad, some moral debate, or whatever. It’s just that the chemistry isn’t there anymore, the s*xual tension between them is gone, so is the back-and-forth, and the things that used to make their dynamic so compelling have disappeared.
So yeah, obviously some people would feel disappointed and disheartened by it lol
And you underestimate the power authors hold over their own work. A global network can discuss, criticize, and have opinions, but at the end of the day, the direction of the story comes from the author.
Funny enough, authors themselves usually understand that criticism comes with creating something, it’s often the fans who struggle more with the idea that a work can be loved and still be criticized lol.
Ok, that's a good point. But I'm not underestimating the author, since she obviously had a strong plot and can create good art. But I'm also not underestimating her humanity, since she can be affected by cruel comments that are not productive criticism, something that happened too strongly during the first season.
So, while the plot was still doing its job before, already not appreciated by readers who had other expectations based on ANOTHER STORY (read: Red Candy), now it's almost... lost. That's sad. But once more, I'm not going to underestimate the author and hope they can make the story interesting again.
As they should. I usually do exactly that, ignore, but repetitive negative comments are not helping anyone, definitely not the readers, the author, or the story. While I love BA and its unique plot, I do criticize it myself. I think the execution has gotten weaker this season, and the plot is turning a bit messy. What I'm saying is that too much negative reaction is pointless, and since it circles around the net, it also affects the author negatively. If it's not a story for us, we should just drop it, not attack the artist by saying the same thing over and over again.
Awww I notice that, too, comments on lenzhin are more positive maybe the big factor is because People on Lezhin are usually paying readers, so they're often more invested in the story and want to support the author.
While here so different, despite the fact you can read here for free with leaving the author with no benefits at all
.
Uh, this is my take... and again let's put the 'rape is not cool' talk aside for now and just focus on the story, and seriously, let's not get confused there... this is rape.
It doesn't seem that Enzo's incapable of giving Rian pleasure, he's determined not to. He's working very hard not too. He even says "Do you really think I don't know where you'd like it", which means he had kept his promise that first night, making Rian come, just not the usual way. And again, not cool, but let's stick to the story.
Let's go back some chapters. He was definitely annoyed that Rian was going to do his job using the same methods, but while his threats were horrifying, flirting in his own way and with the intention of asserting dominance, they were provoking. Which means he knew Rian would sleep with his target, he just made sure to gain something out of it. Hint: he already had prepared the earing even before going to Rian's room.
So considering all that, what he's gaining? After all, he could be aggressive before and act worse, but he didn't. While having another hostage is a factor, it's also something he could use before. I think it's because he's a showman, who knows the importance of timing. And now he's changing Rian's anatomy with his participation, reluctant as it as, and he's making sure to stablish some sort of hierarchy between them. So it's not even about his own pleasure, while he's a sadist who's enjoying it anyway, obviously, he seemed more excited and... I don't know, crazy? that first night, while he looks totally in control here.
So, I really hope, fingers crossed, that he won't break his ribs. First because that would be very inconvenient for himself. He still needs to train Rian... I don't know, to match his mold? And second, he can bargain it with something else. I think that's something we should expect from him. He pushes Rian in a corner, then offers him some lesser evil, and since Rian doesn't really have a choice, it's Enzo's win either way. Wow, he's a demon for sure.
I'll clarify something quickly: when he said, "Do you really think I don't know where you'd like it," he was referring to Uno's d*ck. He was holding it while saying that, and he's fully aware that Rian's only source of pleasure was through stroking and giving attention to his d*ck. However, Rian couldn't feel anything at that moment because he was cock-ringed, and of course Enzo knew that too, since his intention was exactly to prevent him from using his d*ck again and thus having s*x.
So, he prioritized his own pleasure first, and only after that did he attempt to give Rian some relief by stroking him. Unfortunately, at that stage, Rian was unable to respond anymore due to the pain he had endured.
So yeah, it's obvious Enzo wants to "punish" Adrian rather than pleasure him. It doesn't change the fact that a second chapter focusing only on torture and s*xual violence, when it's been like this since the comeback, is at this point becoming repetitive rather than impactful. When every chapter relies on the same cycle of grape, suffering and humiliation, it stops adding anything new to the story or the characters (doesn't necessarily deepen them or advance the story in a meaningful way, it just reinforces information the audience already understands) and instead feels like shock value being stretched out for far too long.
And after a while, constant gruesomeness stops feeling shocking or meaningful and instead becomes exhausting.
Also, another point: if every sexual encounter we're shown is framed around control, humiliation, or punishment, then there's no actual basis for claiming that Enzo is good at sex either.
If anything, whether he's actually good at pleasing a partner is still there to be proven, because the story has yet to show much evidence of it.
First, no, he's not referring to his dick. He's clearly mocking him before that, "Why it's not reaching the right spot?" right after Rian thinks, "like there's a fire inside, deep in my stomach..." And seriously let's not get to rewriting every line. Read it again, if it's not too hurtful. Anyway, accurate or not, he's using the ring to mess up Rian's sense of pleasure. That's clearly why Rian panics, not because Enzo touches his dick for a millisecond. That's really too obvious, considering what happens afterwards.
And... no, haha, there's definitely no claim that Enzo's good at sex! Lol, there's absolutely no evidence of that. I'm saying he knows how to give his partner pleasure, the signs are all there, but he's a psycho who despite knowing that denies them that pleasure... because he's sick in the head, it's punishment, he's more invested in altering another person's sense of self... all of that?
And I'm not going to get into that morality thing, since you're spending too much time on this story for someone who claims being extremely disgusted. It can be curiosity, the phycological thrill, hoping for consent, or even revenge, seriously anything... really, I don't care, but you don't get to judge other people, be it the author, other readers or a passerby.
So please after this, don't answer to my comments, I won't answer yours. They're annoying.
First of all, I’ll answer to your comment if I want to. You don’t get to decide that lol. If you don’t want a discussion, you’re free to stop replying.
Second, it's not my problem if you misunderstood where I was coming from. I never said he wasn’t mocking him or that the ring wasn’t involved "at all" in what was happening. Obviously he was, he was clearly deriding him ! The point is that Enzo still knows what actually affects him the most which is his d*ck. He knows what Rian responds to, what gets a reaction out of him, and he deliberately uses that knowledge against him.
He specifically targets the part of Rian’s body that was previously associated with his own pleasure (his d*ck) and uses it as a way to show him that he is taking that away and forcing him to rely on something else instead (the ring).
And he literally says afterwards "your precious little toy can't function anymore", "this is no longer your g*nital” and that "from now on you’ll use this/the ring instead". So yes, that still aligns with what I was saying: that line was referring to Rian’s d*ck and the way Enzo was trying to alter the way Rian experiences his own body and what he associates with pleasure (from d*ck to ring) thus why he said the earlier line !
So no, I wasn’t ignoring the ring or the scene. You just misunderstood the point I was making and ended up arguing against something I never said.
Also, stop putting words in my mouth. Funny that you brought up morality when that wasn’t even the point of my comment in the first place. Where did I mention morality or judge anyone ? I was literally talking about story structure and writing choices. Saying that repetitive scenes of suffering stop being impactful after a while is "media criticism", not a moral judgment of the author or readers. I can dislike the direction the story is taking while still being invested in it. I liked the premise and season 1, and just because I’m disappointed with where it’s going doesn’t mean I’m going to stop hoping the writing improves or that the story finds a better direction. Like wtf are you even on about ??
Criticising a story, its choices, or how certain themes are handled is not the same as judging every person who reads it. The fact that you jumped from “I dislike this direction” to “you’re judging other readers” is you adding an argument that was never there.
Maybe try responding to what I actually said instead of the version you created in your head.
And regarding the “we don’t know if Enzo is good at sex” part — that wasn’t even me making an argument against you ! It was an additional thought, not a claim I was trying to prove.
But considering how much of my original point was twisted into something I never said, I’m not surprised that part was misinterpreted as well.
Peace out !
I forgot to say I won't be reading your answers either, so have fun, lol
Yes of course you wouldn't, the same way you said you wouldn't reply but did reply, lol !
He is really a demon
He is Lorenzo Stefano hihi
That he is! I'm afraid he might even have a card to get away with all this later. Ugh, Rian and his half-ass spy-work (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜
