Every he/him lesbian I've ever met was a trans guy for whom, being a lesbian was a big part of his identity, and transitioning didn't end that. I don't think they're 'reducing lesbians to not being men' so much as trying to use language to describe their experience. It was helpful but also it wasn't the only thing I was doing to address my depression: books, social experiences, responsible and informed substance use, asking for help, journaling and long walks all helped me heal.
Don't be afraid to ask for a referral to a different therapist if the one you have isn't working out - you shouldn't have to worry ...... reply
