Eckles was always my favorite and it breaks my heart seeing him go down this dark path I hope the story ends with not only Penelope and calisto getting their happy ending

I think so, I’ve seen this happen a lot in adaptations and I think it’s for character consistency and to help avoid confusion, but idk it’s always more confusing to me
Yes. He had black hair before he disappeared in the rift. After he came back from the rift his hair was white, but he didn't want to stand out, so he started dyeing it black. The period in which his hair was white was quite short and it's the same in the novel
I thought he also had lighter hair pre-rift in the novel but I could be misremembering
