Rather than explaining to us what happened, author showed how they met, the attraction, how he's genuinely happy to the point to buy that thing, and then it all came crushing down with the sweet ol you're just a side chick shtick. You can empathize with the Mc unlike stories where mcs just say they were cheated on or just show how they cheated rather than show the progression of their green to red flags, yes I could sympathize but that won't make me interested that much in the character
