While the main plot stays the same, a lot of details are changed in the manhwa and the placement of arcs as well.
For example, the fight with the barbairans occurred months before the war with Count Desmond. The Ironcliff arc in the novel happened right before the war with count Desmond too and it was just Kaor, Ghislain, and 50 knights; a significant change I must say, as this is the main driving force in the manhwa because Ghislain was away.
HOWEVER! I personally LOVE the changes made. While I love the more detailed descriptions in the novel and how it delved deeper into what is happening within the territory (like the creation of Galbanium, training the elves for mounted archery, starting a new delivery business, road construction etc.), the manhwa has its own special charm that fits it perfectly.
The manhwa skips those mundane chapters and specific arcs that focuses on territory development. And while that may be the reason there’s quite a few plot holes, it suits the tone of the manhwa and it might not be as hype were they to follow the novel faithfully. Basically, the writer for the manhwa decided to completely change the order of things and leave out some scenes to comply to what they deem best for the manhwa adaptation. And I rarely say this but it works! At least for this series it works.
This is one of those series where it would be a totally different experience to read the novel vs the manhwa. I enjoy and love both so I’ll be reading the novel and continue the manhwa once it has more chapters.
Some changes I’ve observed:
- With Amelia’s rebellion, one of her brothers got away due to mc’s intervention to keep her in check
- The fight with the barbarians happened months before the war with house desmond, and Kustu (i forgot if this is the correct name) didn’t receive “orders to attack”, he simply decided that on his own due to Ghislain’s actions
- THE ELVES! I was wondering where they were in the manhwa, maybe they’ll get introduced later but they got introduced in the novel way earlier
- The iconic horse’s nickname is ‘Bean’, and mc initially wanted to name him black bean but his vassals protested so he changed it to black king
- I love the introduction of minor characters like that one chapter with the spies for count desmond and one of them decided they’d rather be a construction worker in Fenris due to the salary
- bro that small span of episodes focusing on recruitment of administrators was fun! He made contracts for fresh graduates for 20 yrs and veterans for 30 yrs
- this one is a personal opinion of mine, but I love how in the manhwa they decided to make this sort of bickering relationship b/n Kaor and Lucas, cause in the novel they don’t
I agree in the sense that the ending was a bit rushed and how they rapidly developed the state of the relationship between Youngkuk and Yeonsu, but before I read this and seeing all the negative comments regarding that, I honestly expected so much worse.
Guys, I’m telling you that this is one of the best romance you can get from a regression manhwa such as this one. Of course I’m not saying it’s “really great” but at least try opening your minds and hearts on as to why YK developed feelings for YS.
I really thought from the way the comments were getting that they had no deep connection or whatsoever, but looking back there were quite a lot of plot holes imo about certain events after & during filming as well as their school life. A lot of behind the scenes were not stated in the story so it’s safe to assume YK and YS interacted a lot in those missing cuts.
I didn’t adore the couple from Medical Return as much as I adored these two.
I started reading this with moderate expectations, but I did not expect to absolutely love what story it’s trying to portray. I am especially fond of the earlier arcs when YK was a young boy.
Please give it a try! My advice on doubting to read these types is to just fuck it and start reading the first 5 chapters. You like it? Great! It wasn’t that amazing? That’s okay not everyone will deem it so. But if you do try to like it, just enjoy the journey!( ^_^)/~~~
I know and I can say the same for all those shojo manhwas as well. I’m not praising the romance in this story like it’s really great, I’m only trying to understand as to why their relationship could be possible in the current life.
And bro, it’s fiction who cares. If all you see is pedophilic shit in all of the stories on this site and try to be a moral police then I’m afraid you are quite new to fandom culture. Don’t like? Don’t read.
Brother, "It's fiction." yea I don't really care, but I don't just see pedophilic bullshit, I see someone defending pedophilic bullshit. It's not understanding, it's "I don't like it, but it's ok cuz they're cute." Plus, "there's more like this, so it's fine!!" is like THE most horrible thing to say in this case. Pedophilia is horrible PERIOD, but I didn't come in this comment section to see someone "try to understand" is so weird! I'd rather the author make him focus on his career than whatever possibility he has of romance at that age left.
Bro what do you want me to say? “Oh you’re so right we should hate on this! This is the worst crime of pedophilia in the planet! He likes a little girl!”
I mean I also hate that heck that’s the reason I’ve never watched Mushoku Tensei in the first place. And the romance was not the primary focus of the story anyways. If I’m gonna deduct points for this story then that aspect will be the confirming factor.
And I said “try to understand” why the romance COULD HAPPEN in the CURRENT LIFE given a setting where he isn’t a 50 year old man.
Like I said, it is not ideal and in no way a good portrayal of romance, but there’s a whole different debate regarding a story where one lives more than one life.
Honestly, I would hate on the romance more if he i dunno SLEEPS with her when they were teenagers. It’s hard to explain such notions to someone who doesn’t understand the concept of living through life once more. And as such, you can hate on this as much as you want I am not forcing you to understand. I am just expressing my thoughts on the matter and so are you. We have totally opposite understanding of what “fiction” entails and that’s fine.
BUT who the hell are you to accuse me of defending pedophilia? You are a very forceful person and want everyone to gravitate towards your claims.
HIS CURRENT LIFE?! HAH! I get it now about trying to understand, but he's still mentally 50 d*mbass, trying to understand is already wild if we're looking at his pov (WHO'S POV WERE READING) even so. I agree they would be good together if he weren't 50!
Honestly, I get it, I wrote my previous comment in absolute pure frustration, but there are so many things wrong with what you just replied with... Living through life once more still has the word "ONCE" more. If he were still a teen or hearsay a young adult (18-24) It would have still not been good, but it would've been a lot better than dating a fucking minor who he treated as a sister back when he first met her.
You're right, I am a forceful person, but I didn't want you to gravitate to my claims, I wanted you to see what I meant by my comments, but then YOU decided to reply to my first comment when you could've EASILY ignored me, and guess what?? I wouldn't have pushed you to "gravitate" to my claims if you didn't decide to keep comment an argument that kept on getting more and more sensitive by the second. Plus, who says they didn't do the deed? If they want kids, they need to do it anyway...
"Remember it's just an opinion (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ"
I mean I replied because I am open to understanding the perspective of other people. Bro, I just really enjoyed reading this story and wanted to express my joy and in no way did I wanted to make an enemy out of it or start an “argument” per say.
Do remind me, but I don’t particularly remember them dating as minors as far as I recall, only when they were finally in their 20s. And yes I did find it weird knowing he thought of her as a sister but then I guess that interest turned romantic.
And by second life, it’s more so ‘if you were to turn back time and meet someone who you will grow up with and eventually fall in love with’ then it wouldn’t be so bad? Like if given you have a husband in this life then turn back time as a kid and meet them as a kid as well and grow up to get married again, would that be pedophilic? Perhaps? There’s a grey area in that question.
It’s also just an opinion btw I just like discussing topics but as much as possible without resorting to insults. Do you feel superior calling someone a dumbass? Or are you brave due to the anonymity of comment sections? Of course if the other person insults me first then I’m also gonna insult them back given I wasn’t trying to start a fight.
Anyways I hope you won’t feel too frustrated when you reply to other people next time because it can come off as being overbearing. Honestly, I was just really happy reading this story and I don’t wanna ruin it with a bad memory of ‘arguing’ with someone in the comments. I won’t reply again cause you seem so hung up in your preconceived notions in certain topics but I fail to see how it’s my fault this escalated by trying to talk civilly with you. Good day.

Hmm it’s so-so for now. How tf are you Paganini when you’re gonna be bested by a high schooler during a performance lmao well he is a high school student for now maybe that’s why he’s immature.
Everything’s all well tho a bit average, except for the fact my blood pressure rises at the fact he has a whole ass loving father who RAISED him and his brother, and he’s chasing after the woman who left them whatt??? So many stories have the same troupe but reverse the gender and the father will be unredeemable, just because she’s a ‘mother’ the author thinks it’s an excuse lol Idc what sad backstory reason there is at least communicate with your family
Well it’s all fictional so no point in finding reason for something essential to create some “drama”. It’s still not well written tho compared to Kono Oto Tomare
I agree with you on the fact that he has his father and his brother that love him wholheartedly and loudly, and amazing friends too. However, when you have a complicated relationship with a parent, even if it's just one, it always feels like you're gonna be that kid yearning for their love, even when you don't really want to, it's like you're back to the kid that begged for attention, even though you know you've changed and your circumstances are better. That's why I like this manhwa, it rlly shows how complicated family dynamics can get. He knows that she has affection for him in some way, but he also knows that she preferred to follow her father rather than her own family, and let's not forget that he's a teenager, he still has a lot to learn either way so I'm excited to see how this will all play out!
Yeah you’re right I still haven’t continued from where I left off so who am I to give a review really. I’m sure my opinion will change as I read because I do appreciate redemption arcs, but it’s entertaining to leave out comments regarding my current feelings of where I was reading it at the time.
I think my main issue would be the fact that I approached this manhwa expecting that he literally was Paganini who just happened to reincarnate into a random korean boy’s body lmao so him feeling strongly for his neglectful mother felt strange at first cause as Paganini, why does he have an emotional connection to a stranger?
I realized then that it’s one of those body merge tropes where ‘paganini’ lived out the life of the mc’s other personality ‘joowon’ and so he experienced everything from the same perspective including his feelings towards his family and is not simply just ‘paganini’. I’ll continue where I left off some other time when I’m less busy and see how the story unfolds.
Oh you're right too, tbh I was also confused, like if you were a grown man in another life, why are you so affected by this? but at the same time, he grew up all over again w a whole new family, culture and perspective so maybe that's why he's still a child on the inside? I feel like when it comes to music or other aspects he's pretty mature but the second his family is involved, his mind is so clouded and his behavior changes a lot as well, as you said we'll see as the story progresses.
