Yes and that's his punishment I think because the snake told him he knew he was deceiving but still entrusted his core to him he should've yk not betrayed him that's the point if he kept it safe where the snake asked him too he wouldn't have been punished the way he did

i agree. snake gave him a chance. he has a will of his own. whichever path he choose, snake will become god. he chose to betray him. but if he did bury it in the temple then he won’t be punished for 9 generations.

I wouldn't say that's his punishment. What if he didn't give it to the emperor, but let it rot somewhere? The demon would have been punished by the heaven and be gone for good. I think his sin wasn't that he betrayed the snake since it was within the calculation, but his stupidity/naivety/or whatever it is that made him fail to see the snake demon for what he really was.

I don't think so. He could just drop the core to rot somewhere and instead of being a god, the snake demon would be gone for good.

And I wouldn't say it was betrayal at this point if it was within the plan. It was more like he wasn't able to see through the scheme and that was his fault.

Now that you're saying this I now want to know the snake's side of the story what his actual plan was If he actually wanted it to happen this way
I don't really think the snake tricked the mc tbh that's why I want to know his real intentions now because snakes are known to be vicious and cunning animals

I wouldn't say he tricked the MC per se, but that everything was within his calculation. He hinted that he knew what kind of person MC was and that's why he trusted him. Either way, he knew that he'd win because MC would never just throw his core somewhere. It's either giving it to the emperor or helping the snake.
