I just knew he would withdraw after that. I know it wasn’t meant as a rejection, but how could he see it any other way. He even took extra potion for the higher voice.
I sympathize highly with ML, and I do understand why he reacts like that, because of his abuse and ptsd. I’m just so sad for both of them, poor babies. (︶’︿’︶)

What we now see from Dohun’s perspective, is that Seongmin was listening to people in the office talk shït on Yuwon while Seongmin said nothing to Yuwon’s defense. Seongmin has no problem with other people being terrible to Yuwon, but then goes and acts all buddy-buddy when he’s with Yuwon. It’s two-faced behavior, but Yuwon is unaware of it/doesn’t want to see it. That’s why when Dohun says “no one in the office likes you” Dohun means it not as a dig at Yuwon, but as a fact, because Dohun can see that even Seongmin isn’t whole heartedly nice to Yuwon. Yuwon clings to his friendship with Seongmin because he doesn’t know (or possibly chooses to ignore) that Seongmin isn’t actually a great guy/is kind to Yuwon only when it suits him. Dohun wants to alienate Yuwon from everyone else at the office, because Dohun truly believes that it will be better for Yuwon. Everything Dohun does is with Yuwon in mind, and with effort for them to be happy together. —I am not excusing Dohun’s forceful behaviors. But, since Dohun grew up learning all of these “life lessons” in a skewed unhealthy way, Dohun is just trying to fix their situation/relationship in the only way he learned how; through controlling methods.—

To me, the pond being uninhabitable for any fish feels like a reminder to heejae that the past can’t be changed, which is so hard to accept. But, he can still make an effort to change his current relationship/future with garam by trying to behave better and be more flexible, which is good.

L8atNight July 25, 2026 5:13 pm

I don’t really think he’s becoming colder, but definitely becoming more guarded. And honestly, there’s no way he could prevent that change, being with Heejae. When we constantly deal with people who have severe mood swings, high expectations, and harsh tones, it is normal to become more guarded/reserved when we interact with people. It’s how we protect ourselves, as we know an upset is bound to come, often multiple times a day. We even “dim our own lights” at times to diffuse situations. It’s a normal reaction to such a heavy relationship, and I hope Garam can navigate through it without stifling himself too much.

Heejae presenting the same music to Garam that heejae shared with a previous lover/relationship is a bit upsetting. I do understand why he did it. The previous manager and Garam are the only two people he felt so connected to that he wanted them to play his composed piece. I get it, but it still makes me feel sad for Garam, because to Garam it was an experience he thought they were uniquely sharing, especially since Heejae worded it as “you’re the first student I’ve shown this to.” Technically he didn’t lie, since he showed a previous manager not another student, but it still feels like when a person takes their new partner to the same “special” place/date that they shared with their ex. Even though it wasn’t meant to be deceptive or hurtful, it still feels a bit sad to know Garam wasn’t actually the first important person the professor shared his music with.

I knew something was off too when he said that he was the "first student." but ig it's heejae's own way of opening up to the people he really cares about, and the former manager was one of those people.

i think the part that bothers me most is the fact that heejae doesn't seem to think there's anything wrong with that - in fact he's still being moody and mean around garam

It bothers me too, but I do understand that heejae is the type of person to feel that he was giving them a gift by allowing them to play his composed piece. So, the fact that it wasn’t a unique experience is acceptable to him since he still saw both of them as special and apart from all other people in his eyes.

I’m not sure if it was ever specified if they were physically intimate or not, but either way that’s why I said lover/relationship. Even if it was a different relationship than lovers, it was an intimate sharing between people that garam believes was uniquely shared between he and heejae, but the same/very similar experience was also shared between heejae and his manager (which garam is unaware of)

Finally the unraveling of the armored man begins. Always keeping up a cold front to maintain distance, but that’s harder to do when someone truly sees you. How exciting for them, and us♡

I’ll preface by saying I do not agree with the professor going so much faster that Naeun couldn’t keep up. It’s unprofessional and wrong for a teacher to outshine their student in a duet. However, Naeun already made the finals performance unfairly skewed in her favor by making that deal with youngjo to distract and disrupt Garam’s focus during finals. She made it no longer about the music, which she even admits, and before the Orpheus audition she even says again that she wished youngjo could have helped distract garam for this performance too. She doesn’t feel bad for what she did to garam, she only feels bad that her Orpheus plans have failed. As the professor said, Naeun has every resource at her disposal; highly connected family and social circles, money, all of her previous training, a personal bodyguard, etc. She will still have a musical career even without the Orpheus performance, if she chooses to. Her life and future are full of opportunities. She also behaved like a spoiled child with that tantrum afterwards and risked damaging her hand, because she didn’t control herself and manage her anger. She is rich and spoiled and it shows. I don’t feel bad for someone who was willing to continually sabotage their competition, especially when she has far more life advantages. She can’t have it all, even if that’s what she’s used to.
