Correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I can remember, they are indeed immortal. They can be physically killed but for some reason they are prevented from dying of old age

I have catched up till the updates and it was never cleared how their immortality works or how they can die.
But there were some flashes of his friend's death where there is a foot(ghost kind) and the friend had taken the death inducing pill that the pharmacist is making.
And Kiwon was hallucinating past hajoon who kept asking kiwon to die. So my conclusion is, the friend say his dead wife while riding his motorbike and crashed. One reason could be their strong will to die. As the hallucinations asks them too. That's why the friend in this last text asked the pharmacist to not give anyone the pill.
