That was cute!! I wasn't really sure if I'll like it since the pacing of the first few chapters felt a little rushed, but their relationship development is absolutely adorable. The comedy is charming and I love how sweet and gentle they are with each other. Totally recommend
I love this story a lot. Both the manga and anime are absolutely beautiful and captivating. I could probably write a novel about it, but I want to talk about something else instead.
I can't help but feel that the manga would've turned out differently if it wasn't serialized in a seinen magazine, especially after reading the pilot episode (chapter 0). In the pilot, Mokumokuren made it clear that Hikaru was in love with Yoshiki, and she also made 'Hikaru' kiss Yoshiki pretty early on. I'm grateful that such a deep queer horror story is allowed to be published in a seinen magazine, but I also believe this is what prevents Mokumokuren from drawing a few gay scenes she originally wanted to include. I know she talks about ace representation and 'Hikaru's' ambiguous sexuality on Twitter, and I do want to like it since there is barely any ace representation in manga… it's just that it feels she's only doing it because she wouldn't be able to make the story queer otherwise.
Japan still isn't truly accepting of queer people which is mirrored in their pop culture–while BL (and GL) are big genres, queer relationships (especially gay) are confined precisely within those genres. They usually have to meet certain standards/tropes (relationship progress, kisses, oftentimes smut etc.), or (Japanese) readers would complain. Other genres barely ever include queer characters, and if they do, those characters are stereotypes or they are destined to stay single. So what I want to say is… TSHD being a horror seinen restricts it from exploring the relationship from a more sexual angle like originally intended (see the kiss in the pilot, Hikaru's feelings not being ambiguous, the "touching insides" scene in TSHD), but the work couldn't have been a "BL" either because Mokumokuren wanted Yoshiki's queerness and horror as the central theme.
I don't know. I just think Yoshiki would've acted differently is he was "allowed" to in this story. Them kissing doesn't make 'Hikaru' any less ace, and neither would showing Yoshiki wanting "more" from 'Hikaru'. He wouldn't have left 'Hikaru' alone in chapter 48 even for a second if it wasn't for the demographic of the magazine. Pretty sure he would've been more obsessive, or at least more dependant on him.
I wouldn't call this criticism. The work is still very important to me and I'm happy it's told the way it is. I just wish homophobia would completely vanish and authors could be truly free when it comes to drawing what they want, because I believe this isn't a 100% what Mokumokuren envisioned before it got picked up.
I can't express how important this work is to me. I just finished reading the last chapter and it's hard to stop crying. They're all so dear to me, and I'm happy they found a home in each other. I'm so proud of Haejoon and Eunyung. They feel so real... it's incredible how real the author writes their characters. Nobody is one-dimensional, all the main characters are empathetic and selfish and wonderful at the same time, and it makes so much sense! Not many authors are able to write such amazing characters <3 This work and Skip & Loafer are truly one of a kind.
Missed the chance to make this one of the peakest stories by letting their gay characters just be gay and do their thing. The plot doesn’t even make sense anymore ffs. I shouldn't have come back to this after 10 years, what a huge disappointment
I am devastated. This was such a good read, the portrayal of intimacy and longing is truly a gem in a pool of generic BLs. This story is proof the label is way too limiting.

Why were so many people going around writing this is about two green flags with mental health problems and a lot of angst?? Where's the green? The bottom raped the top in chapter 60.... I liked the first season, and I kinda liked their dynamic so far, but where's Seo-an's social anxiety in season 2? Why does he suddenly get so obsessive and controlling? I can smell the miscommunication and further toxicity coming. Don't know if I will continue this. Such a shame.
Honestly not a fan of the rather uninspired world, but the slow-burn is burning and I love some younger ML only having eyes for his hyung~ Glad I picked it up after the latest chapter.

Sorry but do people reading this need educating on consent? The uke tries to force himself on the seme and gets mad when he says no! Tough that the guy you slept with doesn't remember what happened, no means no! All the other instances of sex between them are also rape through coercion. If someone says yes because you guilt tripped them, that's not consent. Also lying to someone to initiate sex is also rape so his plan to get him to fall for him only to dump his is also a form of rape as they wouldn't have consented to sex knowing the person's full intentions.
There was no malicious intent behind what the seme did, but for the uke there most definitely was. Are people turning a blind eye because the uke is the one being rapey? If so, educate yourself plz because all of this is really important to know if terms of protecting yourself, validating other victims and not being a perpetrator yourself.
Two things. First off, everyone is saying how sensual and real the sex scenes feel, but I'm just getting distracted by Yoonsung's gigantic dick (it's at least three times bigger/thicker than Ha-kyung's...), and there's basically no prep and no lube (if anything, just a little cum lol). What a shame, some panels are very beautiful and sensual indeed, so why destroy it through heteronormative yaoi clichés? It wanted to be something different, but it couldn't commit, that's why I'm disappointed despite the story not being bad.
Secondly, I had trouble buying the whole "pretending to be a girl" plot line. While it was at least revealed that Yoonsung figured out he wasn't after a while, it still took him weirdly long (despite him being a little sus from the beginning. Maybe he didn't want it to be true, but it's not really portrayed that way). The grandpa also never noticed? Ha-kyung only wore a wig over his normal hair, not to mention how hard it would be for him to keep changing his voice (how many people can even convincingly do that?). His shoulders, his hair... hm. Also, the accidents were a little too convenient. One would've been fine, but three...

Man, I've been shipping Yagutoono from the start. I always knew it was nearly impossible bc of the way the relationship with Kashima was set up (also, he's the taller, kinder, "pro-active" seme... how typical), but the last chapter is seriously playing with my feelings.... :( even makes me wish poly was an option at this point lol. I just want Yacchan to be happy, and I don't see him with Tamura at all. Tamura's crush on him is funny, but I there's no chemistry.
