"you say no but your body says otherwise" is exactly what a rapist would say. if someone wants to coerce another, they will see things however they wish, ignoring things if convenient. One person can be in the mood but still have boundaries or even change their mind and decide to stop. There is no arguing consent, if you have to question it, then it's not consented. just wanted to vent about this particular behavior whenever there's noncon in manhwas. this creates precedent for normalizing rape irl!
I'm really sad to see one of the best recent yaois be like this :( to activelly hurt a partner, it's just something you can't take back. i wonder if the author is trying to have juheon mellow out and regret, bc i can't buy this shit. RAPE IS NOT A PLOT DEVICE, IT'S VIOLENCE. if you are going to represent it, show it as it is: VIOLENCE, NOT SEX
I agree with everything you said, I hate this and I hate that I already know it's not going to be treated seriously. Juheon is trying to get Dohu to give up and go away, and I'm assuming the author's goal is to push Juheon to some kind of breaking point where he realizes that he's actively hurting someone he's supposedly trying to protect. There's nothing inherently wrong with that storyline, but for me when it's acted out via sexual violence - which it usually is in yaoi - it's very hard, if not impossible, to get back to a place where I ever want these people together. Like you said, actively hurting your partner isn't something minor that can or should just be swept under the rug, and sexual violence is on a whole different level of trauma and betrayal.
Something I think gets ignored a lot in yaoi as well is that consenting to sex doesn't mean you've consented to anything the other person might to do you, whether you like it or not. Even if there were no coercion or question around whether Dohu consented to this, he didn't consent to Juheon violently shoving his giant dick up his ass with no lube or prep.
you are absolutely right and it's a relief to have some sensible readers in this site. i can't imagine how painful it is to have that done to you with no prior discussion. even if the author tries to justify by making dohu enjoy it, it's not a solid storytelling and that's a fault. it's treating it's readers as dumb.
aside from the abuse, it's been bothering me that juheon wants to protect dohu by pushing him away, and does it putting the blame on him and making him feel guilt for his past decisions, when it's obvious he struggles with human relationships and saw juheon as a safe person.
I totally agree with you that the problem is not the storyline. even if it's not my favorite, but the author decided to do it in the worst way possible. they could have angry consensual sex, they could face the problems without the emotional torture from juheon. this manhwa used to have a unique plot but ended up falling in the same messed up tropes
when these things happens, I often drop the story and create a different outcome in my mind. I'm really upset because this happened in the second season and I always check to see if the story is safe before reading, as i am really sensitive to this topic, meaning, i take it as seriously as it is.
The amount of people in this comment section insisting this wasn't a rape because Dohu consented is disturbing to me. Nuance is fucking dead. Dohu withdrew consent and was immediately met with a threat/coercion. Juheon telling Dohu that they'd be over if they didn't proceed is forcing consent. If your boss tells you they'll fire you if you don't have sex with them and you agree to save your job it's still assault. You verbally consented but were under duress when you did so.
Then there's the people who are like, "you read other stories with rape so you're a hypocrite" which yeah some people do but most of those stories immediately make you aware that's an element to the story and don't introduce it 88 chapters in. The people reading this particular comic were lead to believe that nothing like that would occur here only to have the rug pulled out from under them at chapter 88! My point is you can usually tell what you're signing up for when you read a comic like that.
Anyway, I'm very frustrated with many of the comments and I feel like I'm the crazy one here.
People really seem to be overlooking the coercion. Continuing after being told that if he stops now, he’ll never see Juheon again is NOT real consent. Also, consent isn’t a “no backsies” situation; consenting to sex isn’t consenting to everything the other person might do, whether you like it or not.
And yeah, if it’s obvious from the start that a manhwa is going to be like that then fine, it’s not for me but I can just avoid it. But coming out of nowhere multiple seasons in is not the same. It happens way too frequently though. I’ve been burned many times buying ongoing series’ and have serious trust issues with Korean BL. (¬_¬)
Yeah, I find season two to be a betrayal of the audience's trust. It's nothing like season one. I understand that some people enjoy stories like season two but that's not the type of story that most people came for. I feel bad for people who don't want to read stories that contain sexual assault who bought 87 chapters only for it to lead here. It bothers me that you go out of your way to be a paying customer and support the artist and yet you've been burned so many times by the trope being carelessly thrown into the story late in the game.
I feel like every comment I've left on this story since the 4 year time skip has been controversial. People are always like "if you don't like it stop reading it" which yeah I probably should. But it's hard to not want to know what happens when you've already invested so much time waiting for new chapters week to week. Anyway this comment thread here is a nice reprieve from all the noise in this comment section.
I feel validated by your comment. I don't know wether people don't like to admit the inconvenient truth or are messed up. god forbid you want to read a manhwa with no normalized rape. also, coercion in manhwas is always disturbing, but it's worse when it happens later, like this. again, the problem is portraying like something normal and not violence. It's not about expecting rainbows and flowers in ficction, it's about responsible storytelling
I can't get over the fact that the ML is an abusive jerk. i hated him from start but i kept reading bc people said the story was good and i thought he would know better and there would be some character development, bc everyone in the comments said the communicated well, they were cute and all. But i skimmed forward and he just raped ML? and ML forgives him and says i love you. I guess the red flags were always there but WHY THE HELL ARE PEOPLE PRAISING THIS SO MUCH? He's an abusive boss and an abusive boyfriend, do you all have no critical sense? all I saw was his nasty personality portrayed comically. i'm actually pissed that i insisted on reading this shit. the attorney lore was actually interesting but there was harassment from the start and this is just normalized abuse. a shame because the art is great and from what i saw the smut seems well done, as long as it's consensual

Leo it's so annoying and disrespectful. even towards the cat! And all that misunderstanding wouldn't have happened if Takane told Kazusa about the rude things he said, but I get why he didn't... sorry, these are my least favorite type of person lol
