Fun and engaging! The pacing was not dragged out and I could guess this was based on a novel from the first few chapters. Also why are people looking for the sex parts... The story is focused on much more important things rn, sex literally isnt needed yet. I also wouldn't complain to see sexy times but the story is already filling me up. I love when authors cook in slow burn because you just know its gonna be so good...
Also Im sorry but I think Carlo's hotter than Mikhail TuT. Even after the timeskipp
And now I question why it took me so long to read this. I think I dropped bc of the earlier chapters and just came back now. I wasn't expecting a kr webtoon to tackle hypersexuality, bullying, drug-dependence etc. and still make this much fun read. It's refreshing to have Daeshik as a character bc the amount of character development is insane. Confident, straightforward and whenever he comes out like a pride flag on legs??? amazing. Also congrats Hosae who originally just wanted a gay friend. Now she has gay friendS lmaooo. She and Daeshik are the most interesting parts (not that i dont love everyone else) Hottest character: Yosef. 2nd hottest: Jinjoon.
But the story is disappointing and shallow. Probably because of how short it is but lmaoo? They didn't even try to help others or change society? They just went 'oh yeah now let's just run away together.' A bit immature, I wished the author let this cook a bit more. But I've seen writers pull off good story in fewer chapters.
Earlier sex scenes not really worth it for how much it dragged the story. I really wished the author cooked the concept more and made it more meaningful. There's barely a hint of personality and again, probably because of how short this is. The 'heat' thing is just an excuse for the sex and they dont even make it memorable. Author could have leaned into how the heat was the dragon's undoing and gave the characters more conflict to solve. 4/10 read. The 'dragon' 'rut' etc just feels like buzzwords for visibility when they don't have a bearing on the story.
Or it just simply didn't speak to you, or whatever it was you expected of the story doesn't make it bad bcz it didn't "live you to whatever you expected of it". OP gave plenty of "I expected ", "I would have preferred this", or "would have gone with this" instead. A LOT of head cannons and ideas not what the story is about. It simply didn't work for them. Doesn't mean the story is bad.
The main conflict of the story is about the guy having a mission to help the dragon and falling for the other drick is an interesting conflict. This is a good premise. But the way it was handled is weak and lacking especially when the story's theme centers around correcting wrongs. Like I said, the story suffers by being too short and doesnt provide a more nuanced development. This is a failure in execution and pacing on the side of the author.
Your story can have multiple good points and interesting premises but if you defang a story about a society's issues EVEN IN A FICTIONAL SETTING it cheapens your story because it seems like you just want a cool setting. If anything it just feels like the writer is unable to make every cool thing they thought of matter in the story. Thats writing 101 btw.
You're right. It didn't speak to me. But I didn't say it was completely bad. Just shallow and lacking considering the topics it tried to present. If anything I hope the author gets the chance to make a longer, better paced story because this right here is lacking a lot. Maybe the author will be able to flex what they're capable of. But I've read a lot and sometimes if they're gonna be ambitious, they have to be able to back it up. Author already got some interesting ideas. Would be nice to see fully fleshed out stories while giving the appropriate weight to the topics they present.
Also P.S. to ppl saying if i don't like toxic yaoi. Please this is baby level toxic TwT Toxic yaoi gets their flowers bc they present things as toxic whatever. But if your story attempts to call out the worldbuilding atrocities, well...
I love when couples do naked (but not always sex) intimacy. The way they kept talking about sex and the relationship makes it so much hotter than 95% of couples out there who's just on the pound train and pounds away. 10/10 no notes on the smut + i have to admit the dicks are drawn pretty.
The idiot plot is 5/10 because it hinges on characters being idiots but on the first 20 chapters it was funny. Latter chapters I'm not so sure. Dojin lost so much character and realism when he became just this 1 dimensional guy who became dumb out of love.
Not sure if I'll continue because it has become stale. But hey when all the sites owners start hunting down on piracy sites, who knows if anyone can continue (aka fuck Kakaotalk. it was never about piracy and protecting artists, pay your artists right)
You nailed everything perfectly omg it's like you read my mind
So yeah, I'm so fucking pessimist about this since mangadex strike, and now bato is dead, the situation here ... I'm from Latin America, all the Bl or GL works came here because the fans (who read it by piracy 1st) asked the publishing houses to buy the titles, we don't have much
I get its probably a smaller rushed project but there's just more gratuitous smut than plot that was paced well. There's also a lot of plot points unaddressed like what exactly is a 'merman' was all the sightings just this one guy, if so how does it mean for the worldwide sightings/folklore. If there are a lot of them did they also undergo this same process
Then there's demonization of mental illness which is almost funny if you think about. People are so quick to point out rape/noncon plots to the point that modern webtoons rarely have them anymore. but here we are still portraying mentally ill ppl like this. I guess maybe its just this one project but let me just share more factual stuff to be educational.
Mentally ill people are more often the abused than the abuser. Are they capable of these kinds of things? Probably. But more often theyre the ones who lack freedom and autonomy, and gets discriminated more because of their needs. Here's just wishing we start asking stories to also progress past tired old tropes like these.
There's one thing I can't get over with and its the inconsistency of the art style. I'm still at Chapter 40ish but the face shapes, the heights, even the proportions of the objects to the people feels very askewed. The characters seem to change ages bc of the artstyle and its probably to give more attention to the action but idk. I'm not usually one to be snotty about the styles or art level of the artist bc I do consume different types of it. It's just that this time idk why it stands out to me weirdly??? Probably bc bl art is expected to always look so good and pretty so it's a bit 'off' when the art feels all over the place like this. Maybe says something about expectations within the genre
Storywise, pretty decent but nothing really stand out yet. I 'will' keep going then share final thoughts.
It just completely made me lose interest in continuing ngl
it's reasonable crash out cause they explain how in korea manhwa creators don't get paid much since the income made from their stories is distributed amongst the app contractors, editors and etc. but the way they express themselves is very rude and they've compared people who read their story on sites like these to roaches and said they'd want to physically harm us..
I commented yesterday but it disappeared
Not gonna put the whole thing again, but smth I dislike about most of these authors and their stories is that they're like SUPER racist towards non koreans.
They hate on mangago, bato, or similar pages yet they don't bat an eye to all of the korean pirate pages. As soon as they upload, the korean pirate pages literally upload them super fast too and there's a whole community of pirate readers yet I never see them have a problem. They only hate it when it's non koreans.

I cant lmao. Some parts of this were great but pacing is weird. 5 out of 10
