i think this manhwa uses christian ideas & symbolism. for example in the bible, a lamb often stands for innocence, purity, and sacrifice. while the word "fallen" suggests losing that innocence, similar to the story of adam and eve, who were sent out of eden after disobeying God, hence “Fallen lamb”. i cant get into much details because i guess it will be a long one but i think dennis is the ‘sheep’ and tod is the ‘cayote’
right? and it's ironic considering their earlier discussion about wanting to be tamed. dennis didn't want to be a sheep, he wanted to care for someone. and todd said he would be okay if someone took care of him. i don't know if todd was lying/said it only to appeal to dennis, or if those were his true feelings. but it's interesting how dennis turns back on everything else to chase todd even knowing everything was a lie. like he's chasing the source of this new feeling rather than todd himself, which only furthers your biblical comparison
this story is not about love, that’s why i find the story meaningful because it's something much more deeper. it delves into themes of temptation and innocence. as i’ve said,, “lamb” is known for having that innocent , obedient, sometimes like a willing or silent sufferer and dennis’s character reflects this through his trusting nature. sheep in biblical symbolism follow without question and are often led to sacrifice. and todd being the “cayote” was a symbolism, representing the devil himself. in the first chapter, the farm owner warns dennis to "trust nothing except the sheep" which can be interpreted as to trust only what is pure and innocent (like the “lamb” who represents purity and innocence)its because the farm owner already knew that the “folktale” of someone or something in the mountains who seduces men to take away the sheep is true. todd lures dennis in with love, but his true goal was the sheep and more importantly dennis’s soul. early in story, the cayote killing a sheep represents the mistake dennis of letting evil (todd) entering his life. for example, in well known myths such as those about vampires, or in The Horla by Guy de Maupassant, everyone knows that you should never invite stranger into your home, because if they’re the (devil) once it enters, it can possess/eat you without you even realizing it. todd, represents the cayote who appears suddenly in dennis’s life and disrupts it. then the panel after where he can see his reflection in the sheep's gaze, (the lens of a sheep being a target and he’s next). dennis falling in love with todd represents him succumbing to his desire (to temptation). he places his trust in the very opposite of purity, despite the farm owner's warning. that’s why during todd and dennis's first make love scene, there are switch between the panel of them and an images of a deer being hunted appear. the deer is often a symbol of innocence and peace, hunting the deer can indicate someone losing their innocence. in the end, todd devours all the sheep and returns to wherever he came from (symbolically hell). todd didn't just take the sheep,he took dennis's soul as well, connecting with him through his mind and seducing him to fall from the cliff. this is where the title "THE FALLEN LAMB" comes in. as we understood, in the Bible, a lamb represents innocence and purity. this suggests that dennis was once pure, like a lamb, but after falling in love with a devil, he lost everything and fell-both metaphorically and literally. he was a sheep himself, eventually devoured by the very wolf he trusted. but i guess this story can be interpreted in many different ways
