but i reaaallllyyyy wanted to read the novel. it's just that they said ml is an absolute shit of a character. should i still give it a shot? will the ml repent for his actions? even the first twenty plus chapters, im fucking annoyed by everyone in this story except the mc. ah. fuck it
I recommend giving it a shot. I myself hate toxic and cruel MLs but it is not as linear as some say here. First of all, it is historic novel so try to imagine how cruel people were during Middle Age. He is a warrior. Second, mc is half yokai, his own kin kidnapped and wanted to kill him. They are not some fluffy babies here, yokai. Third, there is the best redemption arc for a villain in all of BL’s I read - ML is risking his life and loses his health in the process. It is one of my favourite novels.
Can you spoilers to me when he found out mc is a yokai? And what was his action when he found out?
It’s been a while when I read it, so I don’t remember the exact moment when he found it out. But it was when ml was already in love with mc so he didn’t do anything drastic if I remember correctly. Actually he never did anything to mc until mc ran away (second time). Then the whole mess broke loose. But in those mess ml suffered alot. Actually it is one of the rare BL novels when ML was really punished by the circumstances, almost died and lost his health. Very satisfying for those looking for redemption arc.

but i like it better than that shitass jinx (i had to insert that just because). the plot is okay and i personally feel the characters as real people but the author could've explored their relationship for two or three chapters more before the author completed the main story. i just hope there are side stories (long ass ones like The Sacred Serpent Seduction because the author robbed us the full on flirty fluff between mc and ml!!!).
