The most obvious route is the new guy cares about FL but in a platonic way. He will be the one to encourage FL to get over her unrequited love and this gives her a bit of character development and exploring new things outside of her shell. ML is annoyed that she's getting over him. 2nd FL gets a crush on the new guy and this pisses ML off more since he could be losing his crush to the new guy. ML realises he's in love with FL. Timeskip, FL has distanced herself away from ML and is now in university. FL comes across pathetic ML and is finally over him. ML regrets and grovels hard, begging her to give him a chance but FL isn't letting him. She tells him that they could never be together but ML isn't giving up. From that day on, he keeps annoying FL during school.

The novel spoilers state that the ML never renounced the throne and FL is pregnant. FL didn't want to live a royal life but understands that ML needs to rule the kingdom as the rightful heir. ML offers to give up his throne to someone else but FL didn't want him to. Instead, they left the kingdom for a "break".
Here, the ML renounced his title, and FL is not pregnant (or maybe she is but it's not mentioned).
The structure of the ending mostly remains the same except the renouncement, pregnancy, and the part that alludes to them running away from the kingdom and asking someone (I forgot who) to take care of the duty in the meantime.
Welp. 7 more chapters to go and see how their confession plan is going to go. It's probably going to end not very well for Ki Hyeon as Gaon will turn down his confession. She's probably going to say "That's not love. You're confused. You wanted someone who could act like a motherly/sisterly figure to you." along the line. At this point, Do Young gives up on her love and moves on. All of them probably went to their separate ways after graduation from high school.
Maybe that's why Gaon won't appear after timeskip as much as she did during high school arc. I'm betting a class reunion. Do Young will be the most surprising glow up out of everyone. Everyone is in awe with her look and now she's the popular girl in class. Ki Hyeon begins to realise something that he had been feeling deep down for the past few years, and Do Young's about to disappear from his sight once again when the reunion ends. He's going to chase after her and she's going to be irritated at him. She questions why he is bothering her now and that she doesn't understand him. He keeps stirring the feelings that she had locked away deeply in her heart and she doesn't want it to resurface again.
