The theme of faith was definitely present throughout, and I did enjoy the push-and-pull between the main characters when it came to their feelings though I did find it hard to articulate how I felt about everything. An interesting story about codependency. I really liked how it depicts this kind of superiority and saviour complex within one of the characters over the other—it's a mutually codependent bond where both feel good about taking things from each other in a pretty twisted way (to feel above, to be cared about). It's definitely warped, but for romantic love to have sprung out from this is such a direction. Arai Niboshiko does really well with this genre! No wonder she also does seinen.

The sequel work to the original seinen manga, and an overall well done extension of it too! There's a very unconventional conflict that ties itself to the plot that's really interesting here. The characterizations in the original work were pretty strong, though how the author builds these characters even more and consequently their blooming romantic relationship here was terribly solid. Read this just recently and oh my god I really should've read this sooner. There's a brutality the queer experience holds and that was shown a lot in this story—there's a lot of nuance and realism shown here that's tackled with taste, not everyone gets to be happy and unfortunately that's also apparent in real life. It's an incredibly well-written work about queer people and how lonely it feels being that, especially within a small rural area.

I usually take a break from reading this since I like stocking up the chapters (and with good reason), the story is just that good. This work haunts me on the most random of days. I feel like it' would've been more solid disregarding one of the extras that reveals a pretty big twist, but anywho I'm still kind of floored how Tamekou pulls no punches when it comes to a pretty horrifiying depiction of enmeshment between siblings. Not something I would recommend exactly, but it's an interesting story that explores warped sibling dynamics.
Short but good nonetheless... Mokumokuren's visuals has always provided such good atmosphere and tone towards their darker narratives, most especially seen in their most popular work (which I'm also deeply fond of). This was my first exposure to her works and wow was I aghast, her manner of humanizing pretty terrible people and creating meaningful relationships even with how unconventional the dynamic the main characters have will always be amazing to me. I think throughout reading this work I just started to go insane like there's no other way to describe the feeling at all. Just so many things in this story specifically that made my jaw drop there's no exaggeration to this. If you like match made in hell relationships, this is your guy...! Hope you're prepared...!
