i’m so confused as to why people weren’t expecting angst when the entire plot in season 1 centered around the mc doing something behind the ml’s back that would make anyone uncomfortable and upset, especially someone like juheon. just because a story changes pace and themes develop doesn’t mean the story “got worse” or whatever. same type of people who got mad at season 2 of Midnight Men just cause the plot developed lmao. this relationship was always going to turn out to have some angst and hurdles and if u didn’t see that from season 1 idk what to tell u
also this isn’t SA/noncon like i see some of yall saying. it was rough and albeit a little forceful, dubcon at most, but even then they both know what they’re doing and this chapter clearly shows that dohu still has power and a level of control. they’re both stupid, stubborn, and incredibly flawed. neither juheon or dohu were ever the green flags yall seem to think they were. they’re yellow flags at least.

I’d say more than dubcon it’s more coercive(or was ot coersive?), which means it’s not 100% consensual but it isn’t really assault either. It was obvious that this would happen, I’m pretty happy about the amount of angst it has right now. I guess it’s easy to forget season 1 since it took so long for season 2 to come out, so people probably rememeber this as the cute manhwa with greenflag relationship.
i can agree with that which is why i said it’s more dubcon than SA or noncon, but i’d still also say dohu 100% knew what he was doing and what he was getting himself into. doesn’t make it any better per se, but he’s smart(sometimes?) and knows what juheon is like.

Yeah, I agree. Personally, I don’t really see it as rape or dubcon because both of them are hurting each other and being equally aggressive. If I’m not mistaken, rape usually involves a victim and a perpetrator, whereas this feels more like two damaged people lashing out at each other rather than one-sided victimization

reading these comments makes me realize some of yall can’t handle a story with depth and characters that aren’t 1 dimensional. i can’t tell, do yall want a short story where everything is resolved super easily and the characters have no internal or external conflict or a complex story with many factors and interesting characters? so many of yall are blatantly misunderstanding the story and the characters themselves. like i said in my other comment this is the exact same stuff i see people say about Midnight Men. this story was always going to have some angst and the characters were always troubled and complex. just because it wasn’t as in your face in season 1 doesn’t mean it wasn’t there and doesn’t make sense. i saw this stuff coming from a mile away and im surprised yall didn’t

literally like i love and have read many wholesome fluffy stories with little to no angst, but this just isn’t one of those. it was clear from the description of the manhwa. a guy who puts on a facade of being kind and wholesome but is actually a dick? clearly that’s going to cause some conflict and has some deeper meaning behind it other than “oh that’s just how he is.” i so badly need these people to gain some reading comprehension.
So in chapter 88 when he’s says ‘stop’ ‘wait’ and the male lead thrusts in what would that be called!! I like angsty stories, but you can have angst without rape. Yeah it is complicated but if you think what he did, to start the intercourse was consensual idk what to tell you. Iam not trying to say I was affronted by this cause there is obv way worse on this site. But let’s call a spade a spade
i agree, you can have angst without rape. and this isn’t rape. this is an example of you not understanding cultural nuances. i thought we all understood at this point that, as annoying as it is, the “stop, wait” type stuff in east asian media is hardly genuine and reflective of the characters actual wants due to the cultures general view on sex and sexual pleasure. you are also ignoring the fact that dohu told him to continue. this is, at most, a bit coercive and a bit dubcon. what this really is though is rough, albeit a bit forceful, hate sex. this is not rape.
I'd say this is angry sex rather than hate sex, tho. Because it's driven by their pent-up frustrations and desire to protect each other from their own self-sabotage plans. But, the point it, I can't call this rape. Both of them chose to do this because each has their own stakes. Juheon, wanting to save Dohu from getting involved with him as he's planning to sacrifice himself to take down his family, and Dohu, with the intention to prevent Juheon's ruins. Their method isn't the right way, but this is the only way the /current/ them know
