So I may be wrong but what if Gunwon is actually immortal? And keeping people in town alive is his Sisyphean task? I mean, I may be slow and late to the party but maybe that's why he still cares for the town folks even knowing that they are plotting the rebellion? And what if teach's consciousness knows that? Maybe that's the reason he tries to kill himself? To escape the loop? But still if it's a loop that doesn't explain why Gunwon's general and sexual education was so bad... in the myth of sisyphus, he was eternally punished (mostly) because he kept evading death. he died about three times but managed to trick his way back into the world of living and refused to go to the underworld, until he died of old age, then the boulder punishment occurred. i think it’s more likely that guwon is sisyphean in the sense that he’s died multiple times before and manages to come back (like the marks on his arms and neck could be previous fatalities) so having teach kill him wouldn’t mean that much to him
