Ed is pretty good at magic and fight. But he really shine as a strategist.
Good ridance. Probably the empress's doing, but good ridance. The king is the character that I dislike the most. He's not only as bad as the empress (letting his child facing the empress assasination attempts is as despicable as the empress's doing), but he's also really dumb. Can't stand him.

In the flashback it was just human who were against our mc, ins't it ? We didn't really saw the dragons reaction. It's not very clear yet I think

This is something everyone already knew but... the character's development is really good. In the begining I couldn't stand Leo's master. Now I'm sad he going to die and not see what's his disciple will become.
