youre actually cooking and i think im in love with you,, it makes sense cuz if u look at the church flyer it says smth abt perceiving the scent of roses emanating from Him which could be about pheromones,, i feel like the guy was chosen to play as the prophet of the church (with his dad being an elder of said church) which is why they experimented on him. and roses are seen on the background of the injections
As a result of human experiments ( pharmaceutical company linked to a cult, flashbacks of injections). If you mean why would they do it to a man, I can think of a few reasons: a). to fake a “divine miracle” to keep cult members? b). to create something particularly impressive to attract investors in the pharmaceutical company? c). A trait exhibiter (omega) can birth other trait exhibitors (alphas), rich people “obtain” such genetically modified humans from this pharmaceutical company to have superior offsprings (this was a thing from another omegaverse)
I'm conflicted. I know omegaverse is fundamentally just a backdrop to facilitate mpreg and horny bullshit, but the way so many creators write omegaverse as basically any modern industrialized society where the bioessentialism is true and justified, with all the same gender roles, norms, oppression and misogyny, just applied also to some men is unsatisfying and doesn't make sense to me if a/b/o dynamics were always a part of human biology. if omegaverse dynamics were always a thing in the story universe, i'd expect cultures to have significant differences and variations in what's expected/normal/enforced for each trait from trait/gender roles, to courtship and marriage, to sex itself. people could totally be getting freakier with it!!! (but they don't because marketability, lack of creative investment, incuriosity/unwillingess to imagine differently, good worldbuilding can be hard etc.) and also no one wants to seriously grapple with trans people in omegaverse (and arguably the concept is rooted in transphobia to begin with since it's all about *cis* men getting pregnant even though trans men are right there) and that kind of cheapens even some of the worthwhile reflections it might make on homophobia, sexism and misogyny.
so settings where a/b/o is a recent development make more sense and are more interesting to me if all the same real-life baggage applies, just with a new coat of paint.
all that to say, it would be kind of a dream come true if this creator actually dropped an a/b/o surprise because it would be "new phenomenon a/b/o", and I trust them to handle trauma and abuse better than the grand majority of creators popular rn, AND this story has already acknowledged the existence of trans women at least, so there could be something interesting done with that. there would be some interesting character conflicts if a/b/o came into play...
BUT! it's not tagged that way on the official eng site and the evidence used to advance the 'seong su is a prototype omega' hypothesis could just as straightforwardly be the "cult escapee deals with his feelings for hyeondo amidst past trauma and ongoing threat" plot that has been presented so far. so I imagine what we've seen so far is what we'll get - no surprise SF here.
either way, I can't wait to see where things go!
