ML is an absolute selfish prick who never takes MC's feelings into account. He will be leaving him on several occasions just to maintain his perfect image. Also, his homophobia will never be addressed as it only serves as a small pebble in their relationship.
MC is an absolute bird with no self respect. He agonizes over repeated patterns of the ML giving him cold shoulders yet he chases him still anyway

WAIT A DAMN MINUTE! I just finished the novel and that's not what happened at all? In fact, you could say that the MC ran away more than the ML ever did, and aside from rejecting the MC, the ML was never horrible to him? In fact, in many ways it was the MC who tended to only maintain a superficial relationship with the ML before and after the confession, while the ML gave him a lot of grace. The ML was also rather gentle in his rejection of the MC at first and said he didn't want to hurt the MC, and even agreed to MC's request to ignore his confession so he could continue being friends. Yes, the homophobia aspect was a bit of a throwaway but I don't think the ML said anything homophobic to the MC after his confession or at all afterwards. I don't understand where you saw the Jinx comparisons and I'm so glad I didn't listen to and read the novel because nothing you said happened in it. Genuinely, I'm confused how we read such different novels. Could you please provide instances of the ML being a 'selfish prick' and the MC being a 'bird with no self-respect' because I genuinely think you've commented this under the wrong story.
I read the novel and Jinx is NOT similar to this at all. The ML isn’t abusive and there’s CONSENT, unlike Jinx. Your comment is over exaggerating the aspects of the story. The ML called same-sex attraction “shameless”, but he comes to realize his faults which you completely glossed over (he literally starts dating a man lol). Both characters are nuanced and complex respectively, and you come to understand them as their backgrounds are explored. Please don’t listen to this commentator, and I’m saying this as a Jinx hater.

I read the novel to and the OG commentary isn't accurate at all. ML is like a literal angel to to the MC and even when he rejects him initially, he does so gently and says he doesn't want to hurt him. Later, he accepts the MC's request to forget his confession and continue being friends but ML still takes care of the MC and pines after him. It's very good. You can read my comment in this thread if you don't mind spoilers and want to reassure yourself, but trust me it's nothing like Jinx

They're wrong. It's nothing like Jinx. I've also read the novel and have countered their claims. You can read my reply a few comments up. I believed them in my first comment but then I read the actual thing and my second comment explains how they're wrong.
