A question to people who always complain about Jo having no relevance and the purpose of him being in this story? Do you guys not read the story or perhaps you guys have no reading comprehension? Love is his purpose for being in the story. He's in love with Ian so what could be a better reason for him to be in the story than that? I can list out everything he did in these past few months of knowing Ian. The most important thing that you guys need to remember he still doesn't know anything about Ian and what exactly happened in his past. He just decided to be by Ian's side without asking for anything in return. If he's being insecure and feeling like a sht that's totally on him. You can't blame anyone for his decision. He is someone who takes relationship very seriously and he doesn't believe in having sex with someone with no feelings attached. I'm sure you won't be seeing him relying on sex only to explore his relationship with Ian. I think their relationship is more like a slow burn and it will progress. You guys also complained about he doesn't fit in this gangster plot but did you guys realize that him being a complete outsider is making this plot exciting and unique because he's different from Ian and TJ. You can at least expect TJ and Ian to do this and that since both of them are from a familiar background but with Jo you can't. You don't know what he's gonna do, how he's gonna react and what his potential because he's very different from everyone. He never experienced any of these things before so how do you think he's gonna handle everything? I'm being his fan I badly wanna see him being fckd up MENTALLY, EMOTIONALLY, AND PHYSICALLY and lose his sht. Yes, I wanna see his potential and how far he will go for Ian or else I don't want him to be the endgame. I personally don't like the author for her favouritism but I don't think she will ruin the potential of any characters.
I did some digging about the controversy about the author mistreating one of her character and I have a lot to say. Regarding she following an account that publicly hated Jo is a little complicated. There is this big korean account that she follows and I think most authors do too. This Jo hater account tweeted about chapt 27 and 28. They said ''people who show empathy are pathetic or weak'' something along the lines. Basically they don't like people who are empathetic. So Jo stans defended Jo, leading to a back and forth argument between that account and Jo stans. Doyak later unfollowed that person but months later, someone noticed that she refollowed that account and asked her about it. She said she knows that person irl and they had a meal together. She only unfollowed them back then to protect them from hate and harassment. She is known to defend and protect her characters many times even from her own readers but for some reason she didn't do the same during this incident. She actually very protective of TJ from the hate cause she thinks TJ get's most hate compared to Ian and Jo (which I find unbelievable cause she doesn't even know who is actually most hated). Everything about her and the way she treat Jo is weird. I don't know whom to actually believe.
I mean don’t get me wrong I understand people’s views on the characters and all but I believe what many readers like to forget is that… she’s the author. Like yeah Jo definitely isn’t treated right but again it makes sense cause Ian actually is very dependent with TJ and can’t let him go. Jo is like the ray of light to Ian’s good path and TJ is bad addiction he can’t let go.
So yeah I believe it’s really just a ship issue where people want ian x mls to be the end game instead of just Appreciating the story
It actually doesn't make sense when you waste a potential of a character. It could've been better if she just focused the story with TJ and Ian without adding Jo. It gives me the vibe how green flags are only added to be a tool to bring the other two character together. This pattern is not something new. It happens in almost every toxic love triangles. I happens to see her retweeting hate comments about Jo but she always delete em. She made him look weak as a character.
On her twitter. I don’t remember what prompted her to say it whether it was some issue like that or she was answering questions (she is very interactive as she knows English fluently). I believe a better way to put it cause what I said is a little out of context but the story is still going and she really doesn’t have like a clear indication as to who Ian will end up with as of now.
I rarely keep up with her updates so I don't know about this but that phrase alone giving me the vibe of the endgame wasn't based on her personal liking or choice. That's very concerning tbh. She actually said in multiple occasion that the story was born in 2018. The endgame was decided long ago and will not change.
What the FVK you guys are talking about? Why would she likes and retweet post that insult Jo?
Bro I'm a sucker for red flags but for some unfathomable reason I can't like T or want him as the eg. I reread the story many times just to like him but ended up going back to Jo. This is a rare occurrence to me since it's the first time that I liked a green flag in a toxic love triangle. That's why I got even more interested in Jo and the story since I had to turn 360 for him. It's also the first time I liking a character that's being heavily hated. Besides this is a brilliant story with a great potential. Now I don't know what to do anymore after knowing the author being shady to him
I hate toxic ones like Jaekyung from Love Jinx but I like TJ ones, I just don’t like what he sometimes did by using Ian’s guilt. But I like Jo the best but clearly favoritism won. Fucking hell.
So true. I always rooted for the toxic ones lmaoo. I have a thing for them but even I now for the first time actually want the green flag. I just know Jo is gonna be used as a stepping stool.
Yess I hate that Ian only thinks about Jo whenever TJ is not in the picture. I saw some people want angst and think TJ will die and after that Ian will love Jo but hell nah I don’t even want an ending like that where Jo is used as second option and only considered an option when Tj is dead Get my boy out of this toxic love triangle. I swear if doyak tries to make Jo obsess to the point of committing crimes and become toxic to be with Ian I will be so mad. He doesn’t need to lose his morals over someone who’s not worth it. Also watch TJ Stans attack Jo if he makes a small mistake when the man they stan is literally 10x worse with abusive and controlling behaviours. They’re already attacking him now and he’s not even done shit
After seeing the endgame for yours to claim I'm not surprise because I myself wanted him to be the endgame. You heard it right I'm sucker for red flags but for some unfathomable reason I can't bring myself to do the same for this story. I had a talk about this with the other fellow readers. They had the same feeling as mine. I reread the story many times to just to get myself like TJ but I end up going back to Jo. I'm still unaware of what made me attracted to Jo and want him to be the endgame. The most shocking thing is usually the green flags are the most liked in toxic love triangles but in this manhwa the red flag is the most loved while the green flag is the most hated.
It’s simply because TJ is hot. Make him ugly and watch how people would switch up and call out his shitty traits. Trust me most fans exuse and overlook his actions because of his looks and pretty privilege. Also if this was irl or your friend was in this situation no one in hell would recommend choosing TJ over Jo because morally it’s the right choice considering how manipulative and abusive TJ is.
TJ's DCK has more screen time than Joseph. No one would believe that Joseph is one of the MCs.
The author is the problem right now. People have been saying that from the start. She trolls her readers by giving them false hopes especially those who wants Joseph as the endgame. Even in Twitter she used to get into debate with people but she stopped doing after getting called out. I thought TJ was only favoured in the manhwa but in her Twitter account too. She always engaged with those who shipped Ian and TJ. Based on everything I can tell that TJ is the endgame. She is not hiding the fact that she is favouring one couple. So what's the point of making this story as a love triangle and adding Joseph. She has the audacity to say that Joseph is also a MC of the story. He looks more like set property. I have seen some readers couldn't connect with him cause he lack character development. He doesn't have much screen time or significant role for people to find him interesting. She literally ruined his potential.
Not the author being as toxic as her characters I didn’t know she was doing that stuff on twitter. Personally I feel like she would make TJ end game because the reception to TJ and how people think he’s hot or the main character. In another comment on here some said that the author said it was pre written and popularity of characters doesn’t affect the end game. I’m not too sure I believe that personally.
If TJ and Ian are endgame it’s just bad writing. There was no point of introducing a character like Jo if she was going to go with that ship from the start. TJ and Ian had nearly 20 years to fix their toxic relationship and only when Jo enters the picture they suddenly want to work things out. Make it make sense? I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, Jo needs his own manwha. He’s a victim of bad writing and the author doesn’t appreciate his character. It’s a shame such a nice character that has potential is being thrown away like that. I don’t know what the consensus if from Korean readers but I’ve seen a lot of people pissed from the English side on what’s been happening in s2. What’s worse is there’s nothing we can do as a reader. These are ultimately not our characters or story so all we can do is watch this toxicity of a story unfold before our very eyes.

In Chapter 99, a time shift occurs between the past and the future, facilitated by the two sky panels. The first half of the chapter is set in the future, while the second half until the epilogue takes place in the past. Chapter 99 opens two years later in the future with Ian and Toby in Chicago. Pay attention to the major clues — the infamous Chicago theater, signboard and the restaurant as they aren't the same as the one you saw the epilogue. Toby is actually the key— her hair is short in Chicago but long in the epilogue, and she looks significantly happier in Chicago. Why are they in Chicago? Because Ian has finally reached his destination to reunite with Joseph, as Chicago is where Joseph is studying. The author’s intent seems to be: "You must see what Ian endured to reach this destination." The second half of Chapter 99, leading up to the epilogue, is actually a flashback. Everything we see Ian doing with TJ is a lie. Just as Ian closed his eyes when saying "ily" to block TJ out, he refuses to give TJ true atonement. This mirrors the moment Ian kissed TJ just as TJ was about to admit to causing his leg injury and by doing so, Ian trapped TJ in a "guilty cage." In the epilogue, TJ isn't truly happy cause he is anxious that Ian might leave him and haunted by the fact that they can never truly resolve the past. Furthermore, TJ has lost his identity—the gang that defined him. This exhaustion will likely lead TJ to eventually leave Ian and return to his gang life. The author doesn't show their breakup because, like TJ's character development, it isn't central to the story’s core. This story is about Ian finding his "destination," and he eventually does. Ian and Joseph are star-crossed lovers bound by tragedy, but through destiny—symbolized by Orion and the shooting star—their tragedy is rewritten. To reunite, Ian had to sacrifice his connection to the past—his Korean name. Since only TJ knows that name, it represents Ian's past self. When TJ gets that name tattooed, it signals that he has taken ownership of a version of Ian that is tied to the past. It is crucial to note that Ian does not "break up" with Joseph in Chapter 98. In his monologue, he explicitly states he will sort out his past and go where he is meant to be—which is Chicago. Joseph’s decision not to stop him was also vital cause had he intervened, Ian’s unresolved past would have eventually ruined Joseph. By parting ways temporarily, Joseph’s innocence and "blue-eyed" wholeness remained protected. Ian was able to let go of his history so that when they finally reunited, they could stand on equal footing as the best versions of themselves, rather than victims of their past that could ruin them both.
I get that the events in the last chapters are non-linear, I can kinda see that. And I truly want to believe Jo is the endgame.
But what about Jo’s panels where he deletes Ian’s picture as he exits Mia’s restaurant? It signifies him moving on from Ian, is it not? He even says something along the lines of “I hope that person finds happiness”.
Also I’m a little confused what you guys mean by “ended in the past”. TJ got out after two years, we see them living together etc. Is this just a fakeout? Like “what if / what could have happened” in this theory? Or did that actually happen and Ian left TJ after some time to reunite with Jo? I feel like the latter wouldn’t make sense because Ian explicitly told Jo that he was not going back to TJ. Which is why I was bothered by the ending btw because that made Ian a lying liar.
