this is easily in my top 10 for this year. as someone who over-sentimentalizes brief relationships, loves believing in people’s dreams, and is currently pursuing a silly dream, it just perfectly captures the feeling of chasing after something & trying to maintain passion for it. the key to passion is support, all greats had a backing, someone to believe in them, even if it was brief or small.
i think their relationship is so adult? hyosin is such a bum but im lowk like “if you love supporting your bum bf go for it pal!” misconceptions and jealousy and questionable consent (hmm) is very dramatic and soap opera-ish but this manhwa realllyyy shines in the core and the development of their relationship. so heartwarming. smut scenes never feel pronogrpahic or unecessary, instead mark milestones in the relationship progression.
another part of this i love is that hyosin is not a cookie cutter good person, not at all. he has hurt a lot of people and been in the wrong multiple times. but still he has the capacity to grow and free himself of his situation (that his actions + fate put him in). these are my favorite types of stories, where people take control of their future despite failure…it resonates more w real human experience…
