spoilers obviously but omg this story is actually so fucking good, masterpiece in the making if they do this right ngl.

This story is somewhat confusing but so fucking good, i love an unreliable narrator getting manipulated by literally everyone in their lives. Imo i really want Gwen to be end-game (and it really seems like that’s what the author is pointing towards) and the dynamic difference between Gwen and Nain and nain and Amon is just giving Healthy relationship vs. toxic relationship allegory.

My little theory so far is that Gwen is obviously also a ‘god’ (though if they are really gods is really still confusing to me cause maybe their like the labyrinth sorcerers in a way ykwim?) and I believe he was in a relationship with Nain in his first life (the life he keeps getting flashbacks too) and in the lifetime Amon stole Nain from Gwen and hid him away on the island surrounded by yes man slaves. He knew that if nain remembered anything at all he would not be submissive or obedient so he created the rituals with the help of the priests who are sorcerers, they use magic to wipe his memory and leave him compliant and helpless. but gwen eventually finds out where they are keeping him and makes a disguise (as shown that he can do) I believe he changed his hair to pink not only because it is unnatural and would pique Nain’s interest but because of the flower significance in the pink flowers nain loves and the puppet show Gwen performed in the latest episode also referencing flowers. a lot of flower motifs. and the imagery they use when showing Amon and nain’s relationship doesn’t give ‘He’s going to have a character arc and change’ i think this is more symbolism for a toxic relationship he literally can’t escape. Amon has literally confined him to this island, isolated him, fucked w his memories, and all his imagery is more predator hunting his prey, there is no genuine care for Nain or his feelings, his feelings are more coveting a precious jewel you can’t replace. if he truly cared for nain he would stop killing others, but he can’t, he enjoys it too much, he doesn’t see nain as an equal more of a pet, he find it cute when he rebels in small ways yet punishes him horrifically as soon as his rules are tested. He isn’t afraid of damaging nain as long as he gets what he wants, that’s not love, and i hope to god that’s not end game.

Plus Gwen is obviously the one helping Nain see through Amon’s manipulation, i feel like he knew he couldn’t just steal Nain away because of Amon’s mental manipulation would only make Nain hate him so he has to show Nain who Amon truly is, to show him a world outside of the island exists, that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Gwen gives Nain hope, not despair. I love gwen sm, he truly is the goat. And i feel so bad for Nain, literally stuck in Stockholm syndrome. The portrayal of his mixed feelings of if he loves Amon or fears him is so beautifully done, it’s obvious he is in fight or flight and trying to win his abusers favor to try and appease them and make them ‘nicer’, constantly compromising himself and sacrificing himself to make his abuser happy. I think the sex scene where he basically rapes Nain shows it the best, the utter disregard for Nain’s feelings, Nain telling him it hurts only for Amon to gaslight him because he’s ‘hard’ and ejaculates so he must be “enjoying” it (which is textbook predator speak ngl) this level of manipulation often makes victims feel ashamed and guilty, believing that they must have enjoyed an act of rape simply because they ejaculated or were aroused when psychology/physiology is more complicated than ‘hard = arousal’.

idk i’m yapping but this was just my opinion, 10/10 need all of this NOW, i want to read spoilers or sum but at the same time i really want to see if my theories/opinions are right as they update UGHHH

I love ur theory so much
And it makes sense because we see that gwen is not trying to win amons favour or has nothing to do with him his main focus was/is nain
And honestly I think he is gradually building a safe place for nain through him like the way he comforted him after the ritual
I think Gwen wants to take it slow while giving him hope and we all know that nain is starting to enjoy Gwen’s presence
Abd what if nain was from a flower region and Gwen was the hod governing that land and they were in love but Amon also liked nain so he stole him or something
    This is getting real interesting

cool theory. i feel like Amon, Gwen, and Na-in all have a past together, i believe Amon killed Na-in in the past and Na-in was reborn , Amon raised him to be who he is now and like you said Amon isolated him on that island desert and to prevent him from remembering anything from the past, they conduct rituals which erases his memory. i am just so unsure of what intentions Amon have with Na-in, does he actually love him?? i would really hate to even question that but, he is a god of war and its mentioned that he doesnt understand human emotions, he rarely even shows them. why would he trap Na-in on the island or desert? what is his motive? is it to keep him from Gwen. i honestly think Amon wants to ACTUALLY eat Na-in lol. but its just so confusing

About Amon abusing na-in sexually, i honestly think your interpretation of this is spot on, i didnt really think to much about it because there was some desensitization there i felt, instances like that, its everywhere in Bl Manhwa, though that does not make it acceptable. when Na-in heard about someone going into Amon's sanctum, i think Na-in fell into a depressed like state (not just because of that.) im sure a part of him felt ''used'' and he also felt frustrated because he wasnt getting the love he desired from Amon.

i was lowkey rooting for them (Na-in and Amon) in the beginning-- i actually thought it was going to be a love triangle, i was so excited to see who'd end up with who. i didnt expect this to be so deep.

(im on ch.44 and wont continue until they update more sorri if i missed some things)

ohhh i honestly didnt even think about nain’s past life’s death, It would totally make sense if amon killed Nain in his past life because he wouldn’t willingly submit to him or something or choose him over gwen so he had to ‘try again’ or something in the next life by raising nain himself to be complete indoctrinated and brainwashed?

Also with the whole ‘God who doesn’t understand human morals or values’ thing is a big point/Explanation for Amon’s ‘psychopathy’ or lack of empathy as it would make sense for an immortal being to stop caring to prevent themselves from repeated heartbreak and loneliness, and he is the god of war so maybe there it’s in his biology to crave that violence and twisted satisfaction. But at the same time if he truly loved nain, he would try to find his humanity, he could punish actual criminals instead and let them be his sacrifices (people who deserve it) but he enjoys the endless bloodshed of the innocent, the pointless death, and he craves for Nain to take the same enjoyment from it as he does. He doesn’t want to change and he wants nain to be like him, he’s much more obsessed with the idea of nain than who nain actually is. Also i don’t think he wants to eat nain literally (or maybe he does, it definitely fits his character) but i think it’s more of a symbolization of how his feelings affect nain and where his feelings are rooted. the Desire to devour completely, to conquer and to own nain kind of thing?

I think his motivation for keeping Nain is because he craves to be loved (probably because in his past life he was abused/never received it) (or he sees Nain as more of a pet or object) but doesn’t want to change. my speculation is that while gwen and Nain were in a relationship, Amon got to know them and saw how much Nain cared for and adored gwen. And he wanted it. He likely killed Nain because of his intense jealousy/envy of gwen and Nain not submitting to him because of his love for gwen and he decided ending Nain’s life was better than not having him at all (Very similar to how stalkers will kill victims in committed relationships because they fantasize about the idea of that person). He doesn’t want to earn love, he wants to conquer it utterly and completely, so he ‘starts over’ He raises nain in his ‘perfect image’, molding him to be compatible with who he is rather than learning and understanding who nain is as a person and trying to change for the better. And everytime Nain starts acting out of line or becomes to aware, he ‘resets’ him with the ritual. I think Amon does have a limited range of human emotions, but their selfish and self serving and likely narcissistic (which isn’t surprising at all for a ‘god’)

my b for the yap sesh but the series so good i gotta do it ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

also i totally felt you with the rooting for amon and nain, i really wanted to like amon (im a sucker for Aspd/Sociopathic characters who learn how to be human trope :3 ) But as the chapters have gone on i just don’t see Amon changing for nain, the few moments we see of Amon’s ‘affection/love’ are always followed up with some egregious and heinous shit, it’s very much textbook abuser. The hand that beats you, also feeds you, it’s like a drug addiction. they breadcrumb affection between abuse, confuse your mind and rewire your brain to seek their approval and love even at the cost of being treated like shit most of the time because that’s how they keep you trapped. it’s like a mother who beats her child and kisses their wounds to make it better. idk i can’t fw the mind games, he doesn’t deserve nain even if he does change now, he’s done too much bad shit to him to ever deserve forgiveness :(

Is there any suggestions for past abuse that isn’t perpetrated by the ML? I feel like so many BL’s have a top who just ends up as bad as the abusers that they escaped and it’s getting played out and annoying, i just want a top who’s gentle with someone who’s already gone through sm fucking shit tired of the misunderstanding turns into rape trope honest to god -_-
