but in the latest chapter we see that duke was actually raped by FL's mother (bcus drunk people cannot consent, hello. and there's no sex without consent), so it's either duke never told his wife the truth or she just decided to leave him when he is a victim??
oh well. now thinking about it a bit more, maybe they cannot comprehend this simple truth, as even I, in the modern society, felt the need to explain that this is rape. and there still would be a lot of internal shame for duke as a victim. he probably thinks that it was cheating too.

she was leaving him due to how he treated olivia and how he wanted to use his estranged daughter in place of their daughter, her illusion broke on how she used to see her husband as this kind hearted gentleman, and she found out that he had also assigned the cruel maid to ‘care’ for olivia, and thus she could not bear being with him any longer and wanted to separate, and take care of the kids at her parents place instead. she didn’t know anything about the duke’s past to that extent. also olivia’s mom is a high ranking priestess from another land where green eyes means that you have magical powers and it’s revered as a symbol of beauty rather than disgust, but sadly that empire was conquered and destroyed by the current king who barred all magic etc etc, the MLs mother was also a princess from that land I believe and the king was obsessed with having her as his side chick or wife, but she instead married MLs dad who later went MIA when he was sent off to war, she later commits suicide instead of being with the king who wants her and the mines that come under her territory which are the last reminders she has of her fallen kingdom, anyway… the FLs mother was captured as some kind of war prize and she was also drugged, so it wasn’t consensual for her either. in fact she is literally a slave.
