The biggest problem of yaoi fandom is the way it normalizes and romanticizes rape and sexual assault. Looking at it almost every other popular yaoi romanticized rape/sexual assault somehow.Most people in yaoi fandom are kinda accustomed to it because how common it is and it’s honestly disgusting. I think you should try to make your friend understand why her mindset is disgusting. There’s also a lot of slutshaming for the bottoms in yaoi but when the top is doing the same thing he is just a playboy sleeping around. Talk about pushing heteronormative ideas even on gay relationships.

I have read that story. That was so fucked up. I remember one scene where Hyengjo raped Minjae but the author was like look on the bright side, he brought lubes. Fuck no.
