Basically I met her in middle school when I just moved, and she was one of my first friends. We got closer, esp since we had most of our classes together. I had no interest in the guys in our grade, and always wondered why every girl seemed obsessed about them. All the girls would start dating guys, and when I thought about it, I didn’t like the idea of dating anyone except maybe her. But at that time I didn’t know I might be gay.
Anyways I didn’t pay any mind to it, and the years just passed by as we entered high school. It was around this time that I was more aware of my feelings about her. I wanted to be in as many classes with her, and go out for lunch with her as much as I can. I even started wearing makeup too. I’d get mad and annoyed whenever she mentioned her boyfriend, and sad at why it couldn’t be me. But she had never once hinted her interest in girls, so I didn’t dare. Plus within her culture, it’s not acceptable for two girls to be in a relationship.
I’m honestly not sure what I liked about her specifically. Was it because she was one of the first people kind to me when I was new? Maybe it’s because she would always act flirty with me, even though it didn’t seem a big deal to her. She’d be sweet sometimes and buy me food. I honestly found her the prettiest person ever. I still remember she had the most gorgeous, silky hair and big eyes with long eyelashes.
In the end I never confessed. After graduation I never spoke to her again. It was kind of awkward when we randomly reunited at a mall. We chatted for a bit, and it was nice seeing her again. But I eventually got over her. Sometimes I look back on this and wonder if I should’ve told her, but I would rather die than see a look of disgust on her face. Anyways, I hope she’s doing well now at her university. I’ve been doing better as well.
