From what i could see, after 5 years, he comes back looking for her. He goes to her job (which she later resigns ofc), then follows her to a trip and finally to her house. He apologies several times but it's hard to believe really idk...
We also learn that she was 7 weeks pregnant when the divorce papers arrive, which due to shock she miscarries.
