Not me binging this manga in 2 days, having so many emotions and breakdowns in one go after ch.57, about how Shinpei changed back to his old self, how Satoko bring him back, the freaking ch. 71 giving me a heart attack for assuming the worst of Shinpei is going to give her his heart… and to ch.77… what a ride. My eyes will not be able to open up for the next morning… I am so glad I read it on Friday.

Hi guys! I want to ask the people who read and watch fruit basket, should I read the manga before the anime or should I read it after finishing the anime? Because I am so curious and hype about the story that is currently in the anime (ep8), and you know it takes a long time to have 1 episode. So I am wondering should I just read the manga?

have you watched the newer version or the older one?

    devil_gazer May 28, 2020 5:53 pm

personally i dont think it really matters whichever one you wait for because fruits basket is a more 'slice of life' and 'comedy' type of anime/manga. i havent read the manga in a while but it has the same 'vibe' as the anime. its truly up to how paitent you are.........i hope thats helpful (▰˘◡˘▰)

its nice to read before watching anime.

Because the manga is nothing like the anime. It’s almost a completely different story and, in my opinion, a much better (and more sensible) one.

I was introduced to the anime first, and I wasn’t that fond of it. It was okay, I thought.

But when I read it, that’s when I truly loved the series - and found more characters to love (or hate) also, as many of them don’t appear in the anime, which was (abruptly) finished before the completion of the manga and, thus, left out several critical reveals, background information about even the included characters.

Manga is more detailed and its finished..if you dont want cliffhangers and wanna know who toru ends up with read manga first...ive seen the old version when i was younger the new one is pretty much the same but theres season 2 for the new version

    intaehyungsguccibag May 28, 2020 6:19 pm

also the older version anime of fruit basket missed out lots of information, scenes, and characters unlike the newer version of the anime, they did add those scenes but still reading the manga is much better because it includes everything.
so I recommend reading the manga then you can enjoy watching the anime.
