I read the novel and I'm still confused, is Katya Ian's biological daughter or what? And did he actually had sexual affair with the stepmother and how old was he even??

Katya is his half-sister!
Ian's father seemed to be some kind of player when he was still a young bachelor, he impregnated a young woman from a foreign country (Ian's mother) and then left to go back to his homeland to marry some lady (Ian's step-mother). That's why Ian is older than Katya.
About the affair with the step-mother...
Ian seduced his step-mother after the death of his father in order to gain her favor and become the "heir" of the sheleg household.
He was considered a bastard for being conceived outside marriage, in normal circumstances he would never be considered an heir. That's why he decided to lay with her, that was part of his plan.

I'm still confused cuz like why did Ian called Katya his daughter? Like this line from the novel- " lan gladly welcomed his sister, no, his daughter who inherited the same vengeful spirit and soul, taking her seat in the same hell." There were many times he called her his daughter after returning back to the castle. English isn't my first language so I might not understand well
