this is what i could gather after reading them and putting it through a translator and connecting the dots and i’ll also try to simplify this as much as possible rn BUT some things could possibly be explained or worded differently once official tl comes out!!!! so there’s a possibility im not 100% right(remember this!!)

original guy comes back but at first he’s all nice and chill but then tries to kill tiger and is basically upset that tiger took his spot(valid ig lol) and something about how tiger didn’t eat him made it so original guy’s soul is stuck in the mountains. he kidnaps female coworker from the restaurant and has geonpil meet up in this place and him and geonpil talk and argue and original guy is obsessed with the old geonpil from before he got injured and lost basically everything because after his injury he got really depressed and su!cidal and original guy knew he was sad but not this much and it’s why(among other things) geonpil has withdrawn(emotionally) so much and he’s scared of getting abandoned or ruining things which is why he tries to maintain this nonchalant attitude even if it affects others around him. geonpil ofc loves tiger but he feels like he owes it to original guy to go with him(and also the fact he’s full of sin; he basically feels like he doesn’t deserve anything) and he also takes accountability and apologizes for being a jerk but you also see that he knew this whole time that original guy didn’t truly love HIM and it hurt him but he tried to ignore it and act like he didn’t see it. i think original guy wanted geonpil to go to the forest with him and so geonpil agrees(out of guilt) and tiger is really upset and even though he’s dying he tries to ask geonpil to stay and says he doesn’t want to be alone anymore. basically none of them want to be alone and all have their own selfish desires that ultimately hurt each other and the hurt has been building up for a long time. both lacked the ability to communicate which is how it led to this. i try to maintain a neutral standpoint so im not favoring one over the other or acting like one is an angel while the other is a devil but i dont think any of them are perfect or “good”.

my chinese isnt the best so im real slow reading it but heres what there is to say

so youre mostly right, that night the tiger actually spared yoonseung and left him to die on that mountain instead. but where youre wrong (i think?) is that the "original" yoonseung that returns isnt yoonseung but his vengeful spirit. the actual yoonseung actually tells geonpil to not listen to that ghost and to look at the truth in his pocket, which is the fact that he is actually dead, and it seems like this is all the original him can muster to tell him. the reason geonpil cant believe that he's actually dead (the ear) is just the culmination of him running from reality constantly, to the point he's literally delusional. whats unclear is that i think the tiger rlly did eat him, but the mountain spirit is fooling the tiger as well.
after being able to acknowledge reality, he seemingly is finally able to stop running away from his problems and actually willing to confront his feelings. he finally is able to confront that yoonseung is in love with the him before they started fighting all the time, which ironically, the version of him who was brave enough to face reality.
because evil yoonseung spirit is stuck on the mountain (im assuming due to negative feelings etc) he needs someone to take his place, and geonpil is volunteering to do so. i think this might be why he kidnaps the girl?
geonpil is actually able to tell evil yoonseung that he was the most precious thing to him all along, which i think is actually able to appease spirit yoonseung momentarily as thats probably whats keeping him tied to earth (negative feelings or whatever) but the mountain spirit that occupies him wants to escape the mountain and takes over yoonseung spirit (kinda confused here but close enough imo) and grandma's spirit is taken to the mountain instead to appease the mountain spirit's loneliness (i think)
honestly my opinion is that geonpil kind of sucks more to be honest, even he realizes this. yoonseung is a bad communicator and ultimately this entire fiasco is because they cant communicate, but geonpil knowingly manipulated him to get what he wanted (avoiding confronting reality) and neglects his relationships out of fear, and even realizes he shouldve treated the people who are precious to him with importance. in the end, he feels attachment to the tiger because the tiger is bold and needs him; something he feels yoonseung isnt (he thinks yoonseung would be better off liking someone else + all their past problems)
and in the end yoonseung's spirit lives happily with grandma on the mountain. its a kind of sad ending, but it makes more sense than geonpil getting with yoonseung, as their relationship had too much pain inbetween them.
