I've seen the spoilers on tumblr a few days ago but to be honest, I still can't get myself to not feel anything but sadness when I read it.
I'm still holding on to the hope and theory that Hiyori will be a one of a kind shinki. Managing to cut the koto no ha and overall just her disposition of beating the odds as a wandering human on the far shore.
It's heart breaking but we should never lose hope.

Warning: Long Rant
I still feel squeamish about all this, but I just wish the author would instead take their route to an actual sibling like companionship, you may look at this chapter and go "oh! It seems like they're just looking out for each other because their friendship goes way back."
But you can't forget that Ruby's original persona is STILL inlove with Aqua's, even mixing up calling him bro and sensei in the same chapter. Sure incest is prevalent in mangas(for some reason) but it's not as good as a plot device for conflict compared to the the other ones established by the author. Long gone was the mystique of finding out the truth behind Ai's murder, other characters seems to have been pushed into the back warming the bench.
(Still pretty enjoyable though! On a wacky manga perspective. Just read it from the lens of it being hilarious than it actually being serious lol.)
How does this guy gain more character development than Aqua in a span of several pages /hj

If the incest turns out to be bait then I'd say it's the worst choice of bait to use, simply because I see more disgust from fans instead of the expected intrigue and anticipation.

I just hope that this is the type of story that will break the trope of second love interests being left behind. But at the same time it's too early to judge since we don't really know much about Cain. This is a supernatural story afterall, there could be a big twist behind Cain that will make readers root for Yahwi.
