honestly, even though i agree that the FL is acting really immature and crazy, if I were in her shoes I would probably flip out too and be really desperate. you see first hand people die your first night, you cant log out, and you know nothing about this world, and have no one on your side. she thinks this is just a game and so shes rushing to the end. I'm assuming shes no older than 40's, but even older people arent always mature or reasonable. *shrug* so I'm just taking everything she does with a grain of salt, this is after all a fictional story more so catered to teens/YA and doesn't have SUPER dark themes, at least not EVERY chapter. just gonna ride this one out and read it for shits and giggles.

I like that she's a desperate scrambling messy bitch because that's more interesting than "doing everything perfectly, calculatingly and calmly and everything works out". She's also different from other reincarnation protags because she's not an expert in her "media/otome game/novel" she's a noob and only knows surface level details.

She also doesn't know how the routes end or how they go we also don't know if she's an otome game fan.

I thought the author dropped this because people were hating the art style???

The fact that some of ya'll are still victim blaming, not having any emotional intelligence, and empathy really irks me.

It makes sense that Arien and Arjen do not trust their blood-related family, their father and brothers, but strangers whom they've just met ( the Duke, Duke's Son, Ishina, Riolu). For the past five years of their reincarnated lives, they were abused. They were told that they were useless by their own mother (who used them for money), neglected by their own servants, and their father did not come to visit them at all. Granted, he was under a contract where he could not easily interact with his children, but if Jason was able to check up them, why couldn't he? For FIVE YEARS they were subjected to abuse by their MOTHER (who was "family"). So how are they so sure they can trust their father and brothers, who never came to check up on them at all? From their perspectives, their family never cared for them. Now all of a sudden, they want to get close. They suddenly want to be a family. What if they just want to abuse them again? There is nothing for their family to gain from being a family with them, because they are illegitimate children after all.

For those of you who are commenting that the twins lack common sense and intelligence, take a moment and think about the twins perspectives. The twins were abused for 5 years, physically and verbally. This will mess with their mental and emotional stability. They were teenagers when they reincarnated, not full adults in their 20's-30's or elderly seniors. Sometimes, age doesn't equate to maturity and common sense. Look at Karens in our society. Look at Tati Westbrook. She's in her 40's and should have had common sense and maturity to not ruin a teenager's life, should have confronted the teenager about their unhealthy habits, and mentored him like she should have because James Charles looked up to her as a mentor. But no, she decided to listen to Shane Dawson and Jeffree Star without conversing with James to get his side of the story and post drama online which almost ruined his career and made him want to kill himself because people thought he was a predator who tried to convert straight men gay. Also, quarantine has regressed some people's abilities to interact with people. I've heard stories where people don't know how to interact with people socially anymore because they've just been cooped up in their houses. Just like how if people don't speak a certain language anymore, they will forget how to. Just like how if you don't play an instrument or sport in a long time, you might forget how to or you will be rusty. Just like how if you don't constantly do math, your math skills won't be that great anymore. So people regress, their skills regress, their comprehension, intelligence can regress, and not just for reasons to protect their mental stability.

And don't invalidate someone else's experience on whatever subject. Even if you were abused and got over it, doesn't mean someone will. Just because you recovered from your abuse within a certain amount of time, will someone else recover in the same amount of time as well. Stop invalidating someone else's experience.

I hope that some of you keep this in mind when you interact with real people with real traumas. I don't know why I'm getting heated over these fictional stories, but seeing how you guys react to the story and characters in such a manner really shows what kind of person you are.

You're absolutely right! It really got me mad when people were saying "the twins are so stupid and they don't know how to use common sense" of course they know how to use common sense and they're def smart. Thanks for this :)

    Lilyrose January 17, 2021 4:38 am

But wouldn't it make more sense for them to not trust anyone. I heard this arc doesn't appear in the novel and that the twins trust no one but themselves. I believe most people find the twins to be dumb to trust a member of nobility like the Duke since they are technically adults, they should know that Dukes and Nobel's are know to backstab to gain power. I think its realistic to not trust the father, but unrealistic to trust the Duke.

I wouldn't say they trust the Duke, at least with their lives whole-heartedly. It seems like the twins would rather spend time with and want to get to know someone who appears friendly to them and can get along with them. The twin's siblings are like that in that regard, but they are people who have neglected them for a long time, and now suddenly want to get close. This may seem annoying to them and two-faced. But for the Duke, who is a stranger to them, who hasn't turned his back on them, it may be better to interact with him and his child and the servant that he brought to tend to them- Riolu. And he was very friendly to them which left a good impression after being starved of affection and attention after so many years.

Ishina does give them attention, but that's her duty. Plus, her affection seems cold and observant, rather than friendly and warm.

I understand that, but they have issues with adults in general. They are still technically adults and should know that royalty never looks out for illegitimate children. They don't trust their father, which is understandable, but they also don't trust the 2nd brother who saved them. Why would they trust a "relative" of a royal family, but not the actual people who saved them?. They respect Ishina and trust her opinion, but not on the Duke, despite her also warning them about the royal family. It seems out of character to trust anyone but themselves.

They were already attacked by other noble children and how no one likes them, but they immediately trust a man who would benefit from hurting them. I don't remember if this Duke character is in the novel, thus it seems out of character for them to trust anyone (I believe the novel also shows they don't trust Ishina either) The artist most likely wants drama. Honestly making them adults was not needed and they shouldn't trust any adults since tey are tramautised.

Hello! My friend and I are scanning the novel. We are currently at ten chapters. There are over 5,000 and it's still ongoing so there'll probably be a lot to scan and will take a while. Where the manga stands as of this moment (chapter 39) converted where the plot is in the novel, it is at chapter 138/9 or 140. So it will take us a while to reach that point as well. (Six months at least).

If you would like to help translate, please contact us! Or even if you would like to help proofread/edit. We currently have one proofreader (me) and 2 Chinese translators. Please contact us with this link: https://eclipsefantasy.com/contact-us/

Or if you would just like to read the novel and just support us: https://eclipsefantasy.com/

Thank you! (=・ω・=)

Does anyone have the link to the translated web novel?

kittykizzy January 21, 2020 8:59 pm

So just for clarification:

- Aoi is the first master of the Mononokean (whose gender is unknown, but the audience assumes they are a woman)
> Aoi watched Ashiya's father die ("I watched a cat die")
> Aoi transformed into Ashiya's dad to visit Ashiya's family
> Aoi was infected with a parasite shrub and sought for a coffin in the forest (though because their body has not yet been uncovered we aren't sure if Aoi is 100% dead)

- Ashiya's father, Sakae, was a secret employee (not even Mononokean knew of his existence as an employee)
> He was also recorded as a cat in old records by Aoi
> He is deceased (he died before or around the time Ashiya was born [I cannot recall])
> Was an exorcist
