I truly feel sympathy for Rezef. He's a complex and traumatized person. This doesn't mean he shouldn't face the consequences of his actions or that he deserves the most horrible death imaginable. He's not redeemable either, or at least not anymore. But things could have played out so much more differently. He wasn't a crazy lunatic like the Duke who wanted power for selfish reasons. He didn't even originally want the crown, because he knew that was not his rightful place. All he wanted was a warm and loving family. His mother died, whom we don't even know was affectionate to him. He didn't have a nanny like Cayena. He couldn't seek the comfort of his own biological father's arm when the king abused him for his entire childhood. He only did what he had to for survival, and then gradually became twisted. In their first lifetime, he thought his sister had given up on him, hence why he mistreated her and never helped her. "She deserves this. You deserted me and wanted to replace me. You are no longer my family. I have none." However in their second life, she gave him hope again. But it was too late to redeem Rezef because the path he chose to walk was riddled with thorns and the sword he picked up was long broken. Perhaps if Cayena had returned far sooner in the past, if she hadn't forgotten the abuse and neglect they went through, or if their parents were better people who never blamed children for their parents' wrongdoings, then maybe the siblings could have turned out better. They wouldn't have been so obsessed with other people-Rezef fixated on the crown and Cayena; Cayena on Raf. Or even if their parents had married the right people from the start, then this could have all been avoided. This goes for the former Duke and Duchess as well. No child should carry the sins that their parents committed. I believe this is what caused the Duke to be sick coming into contact with people. Deep down, he was afraid that people would be disgusted with him. He believed that he was a curse. Because his father loathed his mother's family for forcing marriage upon him, to have him create an heir. If his parents couldn't give him love and affection and was constantly faced with pressure from others to quickly grow up and secure the Duke's position, it only makes sense that his trauma surfaced as disgust with coming into contact with people.
That was long but I agree with the whole thing honestly I rlly like rezef even tho I knew boi wasn't gunna have a good end tbh I like the story in the beginning different cool characters a moving plot God tier art but somewhere in the middle to end the plot felt rushed the supporting characters didn't really feel interesting anymore it felt like the author ran out ideas and trying to tie the whole thing up without any regard to the og reason the MC did the things she did and I know I ranting but I feel like the magic subplot was rlly pointless I mean u can take the whole thing out and
I totally agree with you ! Even if Cayena turned back time, it just wasn’t enough. If she went back during their childhood maybe she could’ve changed him. I really sympathize with him, he had a really bad life. I remember when we had the flashbacks of their childhood I had tears cos I hate child abuse. It’s sad that children are always the ones who suffers for their parents decisions and acts…
its been 10 years and we are finally reaching some climax!! maybe now kuon can face his trauma, no longer needing ren. don't know when kyoko gets that break in her character to become a real actress, hopefully soon. if kuon can face his past sooner, kyoko can become a full fledged recognized actress sooner, can let go of her grievances with shou, and then kuon and her can finally be an open couple!!
every time i look in the spoiler discussion or in the comments, yall are always complaining about the FL being stupid and about the plot. if you don't like it, then go read something else, don't add your crying in the comments. its unnecessary. sure the FL isn't as bright or ruthless as roxana or whoever, but who is? roxana grew up in the novel and so she had time to adapt, our FL was transported. you act as if you're a genius and would be able to clear the game in the first 5 minutes. be fucking for real. honestly, I would rather take a flawed and interesting character like our FL who can show growth at the end, rather than a mary sue who is always overpowered and is never caught slipping. she is realistic, she is raw, she is just an ordinary woman who wanted to troll around in a love sim game and ended up in a literal nightmare. she has no one she can actually rely on, no one to trust, no friends or family here. and she couldn't even tell if people liked her for who she was or if its bc of her stats. those who became infatuated with her could murder others, hurt her, and could even kill her just to possess her like an object. literally, how is that fair? continue reading your mary sue manhwa or fluffy romance if you cant handle angst.
So I looked up the raws and they are up to ch 15 now.

Rereading from the beginning and with how much information now, I've come with a theory. The old man, who I assume is ML, is reading a crumpled and old letter surrounded by fireflies. Maybe they had gotten married on the island and decided to never leave, however she had died young from her illness. Now ML is reading her last letter and remembering the days the spent together. So it's a pretty tragic end, real bittersweet.
That makes hella sense, minus the fact that I actually think it’s the female lead as the old person in the beginning. Cause it says ‘women are supposed to be objects/marriage tools, and yet, I got married to someone I shouldn’t have.’
so I think she ends up living till she’s old, which would be so dope cause I’m sure everyone thinks she’ll die young due to her illness. I like this theory though
honestly, even though i agree that the FL is acting really immature and crazy, if I were in her shoes I would probably flip out too and be really desperate. you see first hand people die your first night, you cant log out, and you know nothing about this world, and have no one on your side. she thinks this is just a game and so shes rushing to the end. I'm assuming shes no older than 40's, but even older people arent always mature or reasonable. *shrug* so I'm just taking everything she does with a grain of salt, this is after all a fictional story more so catered to teens/YA and doesn't have SUPER dark themes, at least not EVERY chapter. just gonna ride this one out and read it for shits and giggles.
I like that she's a desperate scrambling messy bitch because that's more interesting than "doing everything perfectly, calculatingly and calmly and everything works out". She's also different from other reincarnation protags because she's not an expert in her "media/otome game/novel" she's a noob and only knows surface level details.

From how the plot is progressing, this might be a max 25-30 chapter story. I'm assuming this is a small project for the artist to work on to get back into the grind after recovering. Hopefully, once this story is done and the current season for "Turning a Crazy Dog Into a Young Master" is up to date as well, the artist can return. I only say this because usually artists are on a contract, either for the season or for the entire duration of the project.
Im pretty sure I saw that it's 16 chapters
