Also, I'm currently reading about a man who was captured as the emperor's slave...the emperor killed his entire family and he constantly abused him...apparently, he Gets Better and Treats the Uke Nicer later on in the story. But I. Just. Don't. Care.

In the story I read before, Cocoon of the Heart, the seme hurts and rapes the uke because he blames him for his father's death. I hated him, I still kind of do tbh, but the difference here is that he actually showed sincerity, regret, and growth all throughout the story. He did everything for the uke knowing full well what he did to him before, and while extremely apologetic, never expected the uke to forgive him. That story is why I still sometimes push myself to finish a book/manga; how the author writes redeption fascinates and intrigues me. How they turn a reader's hatred to forgiveness. It absolutely infuriates me when a seme gets off too lightly after hurting the uke badly. Trauma is a real and painful thing
