Whoever tagged this story as yaoi was seriously high. This is barely a romance. Now, 24 episodes later, it's getting closer to being a shounen-ai. I was completely deceived. I love this author's other story, so I thought this one would be just as good. It's not a bad story, but it doesn't have anything very elaborate either. The fact that the character is a vampire changes absolutely nothing in the story. Nothing is really explored. I thought we'd see more development in whatever it was, but even their romance, which is the central point of the story, hasn't progressed yet. We know nothing about anything in 24 episodes. The vampire society, the protagonists' friends, their families, their jobs or college... Nothing! I confess that this left me quite disappointed. I'll put this aside for a year, or until I finish it, and then maybe I'll finish reading it and see if anything has been worked on by then or not.

To be fair, maybe the author didn't start with smut scenes since the top was still a high school student in season 1. And I think this story has progressed with the romance especially at the beach scene, it doesn't have to be physical but the bottom consoling him about his family passing and you could see the kid starts to think of him as a pillar after that parents day chapter. And the cherry blossom lunch scene was suoer cute and romantic too!!

I don't actually mind that there aren't any sex scenes. Actually, I would find it quite strange if that were the case, really. Because of the age difference and everything else. It's just funny that they tagged this story as yaoi. There might be something more later, but then it would be something like Cherry Blossom After Winter, so I'd be like a shounen-ai until that happens I guess. What really upset me was how everything seems without any development. But judging by how many people disliked my comment, I guess that's just my opinion, haha. I just feel like their romance is very slow and almost nonexistent so far. It seems like we're going somewhere now, but that's already 24 episodes bruh. If it had some other focus, maybe I wouldn't feel this way. Because it's okay to be a slow burn, but then give me something besides their romance to entertain me. Having only romance as the focus and nothing else, and even that doesn't work well, so it just gets kind of boring, I think. But as I said, it's not a bad story. I thought it was cute. But I couldn't see them as romantically until episode 24, when we finally get some real display of affection from the other side of the relationship and not just one side crush from a teen to an adult. I just think they seem more like father and son than truly romantic most of the time, hahaha. Anyways, just what I think.

I mean yaoi means that there’s gonna be homosexual shit involved and that’s what this story is. It definitely is a slow burn but the first season has more of a cozy and careful plot which I really enjoyed (and I’m guessing a lot of other people also enjoyed). I don’t think the author intended for anyone to believe that Changdeok was in any way romantically interested in Jongwu at the start, like you said little dude was a minor. It’s also a big bonus that the art is gorgeous

I totaly agree with you, it lakes of development, we don't know anything about them, and they don't have deep conversations. But i keep reading to know where this story goes and how the author is gonna make them fall in love with each other (especially the older one)

I keep wondering if Teach gets shot and is left for dead, Guwon will be so terrified of losing him that he'll begin to understand the value of life. He clearly acts this way because he doesn't understand how awful his actions are, simply because he doesn't understand human connection, since he's never truly had one (until now). So I wonder if, after this, he won't start questioning the very actions he's justified until now. Furthermore, I also hope that being so close to death will help Jiwon recover some of those memories that he can't remember. We need to see the truth behind this unreliable narrator.

I love how he's asking himself this now, 33 episodes later, as if it weren't obvious. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

seriously tho. like, was the overlay of pitch black skin, stitches on his neck, abnormal strength and size, and how he sees human beings as literal pets (almost as if they’re separate beings from what he is) not enough for him? plus, the fact that he doesn’t seem to have any memories of his life before the apocalypse(?) happened is suspicious in and of itself.

I just finished reading episode 96 RAW and... what a beautiful, perfect, flawless episode! The secondary couple finally slept together, confessed their feelings, and exchanged vows of love. It was so beautiful, majestic, beyond compare. After waiting so long for them to be together, we understand very well that feeling of waiting that is finally over and how relieved they are to be together. I wouldn't change a thing. I just hope we get several more episodes of them as a couple, like we did with the main couple. DON'T END AT THE BEST PART, STORY! I WANT TO SEE THEM MARRIED! And it would be really cool to see a double date with the main couple, showing that there's nothing more than friendship between them and now they have their great loves with them.

RAW IN THE COMMENTS:

I reread the entire story just to see the secondary couple from the beginning again, and I think that phrase at the end of chapter 93 “now I remember" is a reference to something he didn't remember in the end of the flashback in chapter 70 about his favorite rose or something. That's something that will be answered in the next chapters.

And get ready cuz they'll get really freak in the next eps too hehehehehehe (≧∀≦)

I read the first two chapters and didn't understand anything. Then I realized that this is a side story from a novel that was never adapted into manhwa. I even looked for the novel to read, but it was released almost ten years ago and has never been translated anywhere. They don't even exist on pirate websites, even if just in Korean. Even this manhwa side story is 5 years old. It was published in 2021 and only now has someone translated it simply because it's by the artist of Semantic Error. Otherwise we would never heard of it. I honestly won't read it then. There's no point in reading the whole story for me. What's a shame. If it's been that long, then the complete story will probably never be adapted or translated, which is a shame.

Deltagawa April 13, 2026 7:22 am

I find it very funny because I started reading the novels when the manhwa was still in season 1, and there the sex is very explicit and uncensored. So I even forgot that it was new for something to be so explicit here and for people to be so amazed about it. I would really recommend that you read the novels. That's because I feel we understand the characters better there, since we're inside their heads. And also cuz there's real smut there since their first time in the car. Hehehe ⁄(⁄ ⁄·⁄ω⁄·⁄ ⁄)⁄

I saw the cover on the main page and clicked on it because it looked like it was going to be a cute yaoi... Then I saw who the author was and immediately gave up on reading it. Hahahahahahaha And based on the comments, I'm more than right to state the obvious.

Hi! I know you didn't ask but I was also hesitant to read this one after reading Kiss Me Liar because it was mediocre but I'm actually enjoying reading this for now! It's an okay read to pass time (⌒▽⌒)

Wanna feel old? Did you know the first chapter of Love is an Illusion was published on February 2018, 8 years ago? We've been reading this story for almost a decade without even realizing it. ╥﹏╥
