Absolutely not - some of the most cursed things I've witnessed have over a 9. I prefer to look at comments and see if the readers are pissed off or generally happy, but even that's not super reliable. reply
Yeah it's kinda weird, because they're often drawn prettily but then other characters will call them plain/ugly/not good enough for the top? It's like the authors are trying to have it both ways by having an MC that's both nice to look at and a relatable audience surrogate.
