What the fuck is the author thinking doing this crap, this whole side story is just plan stupid. Why the hell would you change Inseo this damn much? He is nothing but a cry baby every chapter and it is just so not fun reading this... Inseo needs to grow the heck up and stop being a stupid moron, now a criminal on top of that. It does not help that he is not listening, only hearing what he wants/thinks and that is not healthy for a relationship... though is this side story is anything to go by, they haven't had one for a bit now as it is.
Why can't Ian has a back bone when it comes to the ashole Cardinal, but has no problem having one with Sol? I just don't get. Ian needs to not listen to the asshole and go to Sol.
I can't wait till the asshole is dead and gone!!!
Because, Cardinal was the only one that accepted him and took him under his wing when he was a child. The emotional connection and complexity is very difficult and should not be viewed as black or white. Sol was someone he met during adulthood where his brain is fully developed, therefore he doesnt have any complex with Sol and doesnt have as much complications during arguments.
Grooming. Cardinal was the first person that didn't curse and hate Ian for his power. He's also the one that got Ian out of the toxic and constant bullying he got when he was in the orphanage. The cardinal prob sponsored Ian and got him into the knights. Ian also has seen the Cardinal as his savior and patron from childhood to now. There's a deep rooted feeling of gratitude or being in debt to the cardinal. It's like problematic parents that undermine their kid and treat them bad but, because they weren't bad all the time and has raised and paid for the child tuition etc, the child is enable to cut ties easily.
As to why he can fully let go of the Cardinal and go to Sol, it's due to 1) Apart from the obvious lyng the Cardinal said of the affection for Ian, he (ian) never saw the cardinal bad side. On the contrary so far he has only seen the cardinal defend him in court, worry about him and lastly the cardinal's ulterior motive he just realized recently; 2) guilt.
It's also why Sol doesn't tell Ian, that the cardinal is bad etc because it will be hard to convince him. Ian needed to see himself that the Cardinal is bad to accept the truth. Not from Sol or a third party.

I don't remember every part of this one, after all it's been awhile :) , but anyway, maybe someone remembers it better then I do and can answer this... Did the grandfather ever show any signs that he didn't want them together? Did he ever say something, look a weird way, or anything at all that would make it have more since as to why he is being an old ass piece of shit old fart?
As far as I remember he and mom had basically cut ties looooooong ago and he was literally a nonexistent character, but magically he appeared now and apparently cares what his grandson he literally never paid attention to does.
From what I remember, their mother tried to keep them as far away from his ears as possible. She left her parents' home on her own after having Taesung, I believe. And from her reactions, it was kind of clear she was repulsed by his behavior. And her conversation with the grandmother at the beginning of the season implies that they were expecting him to flip his shit when he found out.
I believe he only shows up in a flashback. Taesung's mom just adopted Haebom, and they got into a fight about her taking care of a kid that isn't her own. He essentially cuts her off, but tells her to leave Taesung behind (presumably because he wants an heir for his company).
I'm sure the grandfather not wanting Taesung and Haebom together is a combination of control/classism/traditional views (homophobia).
I think control is probably the name of the game. But yeah, you do have a point
