Coming back to this and seeing my old comments from 2019… like no way? I was around 15/16 and I’m now almost 21. I’m crying bc i definitely don’t agree with past me as much… I’m really not rooting for anyone…but to be honest, im not a fan of Jun either. Don’t get me wrong… hyeonwoo is extremely flawed, as everyone else is, but Jun not saying I love you back 5 years in is actually insane. I think Subin needs alone time at this rate.
Are you maybe confusing Jun with Subin? It was said that Subin has never said that he loves Jun in chapter 68:
Subin says: "We've never talked about that kind of thing. In fact, this is the first time you've ever asked me that".
Jun says": "You've asked me a thousand times, and I've always told you that I loved you every time. I can't even count how many times".
I was just commenting on "Jun not saying I love you back 5 years in" - which is just not true and actually the opposite - which honestly shocked me when I first read it and felt bad for Jun.
I think at the beginning of the story Jun told Subin that he wasn't sure if he loved him, but one of the main plots of season 1 was Jun realizing that he cares too much about Subin and likes him too much even though he knows Subin is using him as a tool for consolation. And let's be honest, it's not like Subin was so invested in their relationship in the beginning as well (for example saying Hyeonwo's name during sex with Jun, calling him the next day to come pick him up after Hyeonwo had left him in the rain - and yet he still did it, even though he was pretty mad about that situation).
I'm only saying it though because I believe if anyone deserved better in this story it would be Jun, but if being with Subin makes him happy, then great! I actually liked the 2nd season because we finally were shown that Subin actually cares about Jun and Jun can finally breathe a little and show some insecurities or flaws.
Sorry for the rambling, that's just my interpretation ;)
It doesn’t really matter because regardless, neither of them should have a difficult time saying I love you and Jun was extremely patronizing towards Subin. They both were flawed and would have been better off without each other. The ending was basically “we still have these issues but at least we know we love each other” and that doesn’t work for long term relationships. You can have your interpretation, I’m just not a fan of their relationship or really either of them and how they act in it
I feel like a major theme in this manhwa, that puts it apart from the rest, is that they are all MAJORLY flawed, which is realistic. Often you have perfect love interests, does the right thing, says the right thing, has a perfect face and life, but that’s far from reality. I know a lot of people were against a season 2, which is understandable, but again, realistically, just because it seems like your relationship you built over the years is perfect, sometimes the thing you love about someone starts to become something you hate. Every little thing starts to become annoying. How Subin and Jun function, and how Subin and Hyeonwoo function, are all extremely flawed in their own ways. No matter who Subin picks, there is going to be past, present and future issues, which is the reality of any typ of relationship, platonic or romantic. It would be interesting to see Subin discover life on his own for once, without the reliance of either of them, because sometimes, being on your own is what is best.
Agreed but tbh, I don’t understand the rooting for Jun… he also treats Subin poorly. You been dating someone for 5 years yet you can’t tell them you love them and you go on dates with other people to please your mom? I know it’s complicated with the mom, but there is no excuse for not saying I love you back. I think Subin is better on his own lol
I read spoilers and I’m disappointed... also, this is hardly a bl? not that that’s an issue, but the categorization is off. very lack luster ending for 82 chapters
SPOILER !!!!
so basically what happens is that the brother (the one who had committed suicide) a fake gf to get rid of the gay rumors and they over hear the brother say something to the girl about killing herself. (I’m speaking from memory, there are more spoilers in the comments) the girl ends up attempting suicide and the reading club blames it on him, turning the school against him and that’s why he ends up committing suicide. The reading club never faces any repercussions for this and the main character (sorry, I’m bad with names) was only ever using the boy that likes him.

I’m sorry, but if you’re significant other can’t say they love you when you ask them 4 YEARS into your relationship, that is insane. The ending was literally like “we aren’t going to change anything, but I love you” like nothing was learned. Jun needing a second season to say I love you is CRAZY… I’m not saying he needed to end up with Hyeonwoo, but he definitely needs to end up alone because Jun was not much better.
ignore my typos
Invalidating your partners feelings for 5 (not 4 which is crazier) years is insane. Please find someone better.
