If he loses, he loses his lifestyle and Kim Dan would feel guilty due to his earnest nature. And he shouldn't put Kim Dan in a situation like that. Winning will set Kim Dan free.
Given his trauma, Kim Dan can only speak formal, and his version of formal speak with Jaekyung is business with the original contract. So good on Jaekyung for putting Kim Dan's health over his jinx and trying to help while speaking the same "business" language.
