Dude their whole dynamic is so nuanced and complicated, I can't get enough. I know some of yall are making comments about how ridiculous it was for Cheol to say that Minyoung hurting him was worse than anything his family did but it actually makes a lot of sense. Cheol had no intention or desire to fall in love with Minyoung.
Minyoung deliberately and constantly inserted himself into Cheol's life in more ways than one. Not only that, but he actually would stand up for Cheol, made him feel like he mattered and took him out on that date where he made that whole speech about how special their connection is. And most importantly, Cheol told him about his family's abuse. This is all deep emotional stuff and it all goes completely down the drain when he watches Minyoung out him to his father.
Now, I completely understand why Minyoung did what he did, but I feel like we need to keep in mind the type of damage that Minyoung left on Cheol. Yeah his family was physically abusive but this was a betrayal from someone he never would've expected and loved deeply. It's a serious emotional scar that I'd argue hurts more than physically abuse, especially since Minyoung never came to him afterwards and never apologized or explained, even in the present.
I still love both of my divas though, this is some of the best shit I've read in a hot minute.
The way all of the Klan members and racists have appeared and gathered in the comments is genuinely appalling. This whole situation is really eye opening to the sheer amount of undercover racists that exist around us. The fact that we have to have full blown debates and arguments about how this story was racist is absolutely insane.
People love to use the argument "you guys don't complain about rape in BL but suddenly have an issue with slavery" like people haven't openly criticized manga like Jinx for its rape and what do yall do? Act like it's not a big deal or tell them not to read it if they want to complain.
In this current political climate, it's wildly brain dead and insensitive to think about publishing a slave x slave master romance story, ESPECIALLY since slavery still exists in the US. I've seen people blaming Indigenous and Black people for it being canceled and being "too sensitive" instead of addressing and understanding the issue. You aren't a person of color so you don't get it. Don't go around on the internet telling people how they should feel and how their feelings aren't valid just because you're too ignorant and can't address your own racist behavior. All yall care about is the next story you thirst and goon over.
I hate Cheol's whole family, they can all jump off a cliff for all I care. This might be a hot take but I think the uncle is the worst in the family. Yeah I know the dad and brother abuse him and all that, but the uncle has been fully aware of how horrible of a person the dad is since they were young and never actually stepped in.
He claims that Cheol was "his first kid" but never lifted a fucking finger to help Cheol get out of his situation despite knowing that Cheol was being abused and the fact that Cheol loved and looked up to him so much. He literally told the uncle as a kid that he wished that the uncle was his father instead. And now, even as an adult he has the audacity to act shocked and confused when he finds out that Cheol is still being abused.
I was on his side in the beginning but this chapter pissed me smooth off. No one ever lifted a finger to help Cheol in his entire life except Minyoung. But if we're being real, even Minyoung is still guilty for making life worse for Cheol because he outed him to his dad, knowing how abusive he was. Yeah he might've had his reasons but HE NEVER FUCKING APOLOGIZED FOR IT.
Cheol has been a victim his entire life and I really feel for him. Anybody who calls him weak or pathetic can actually kiss my ass.
I've been holding off from reading this for a while, and I already regret it. This was so fucking peak, I don't know what to do. The art, the plot, the characters and all their complexities were SO GOOOOD.
I see a lot of myself in Matthew ngl. I really appreciated how, in the end, Jin was the one who had to wait for Matthew. I thought it was beautiful too how at the end of the day, everything that Jin did and endured was for Matthew, even when he couldn't remember because of the drugs.
Him quitting and getting clean not just for himself but for Matthew was amazing. I loved that he hid the real drugs too under the building.
These two stressed me the fuck OUT but I love them. Matthew did a lot of dubious shit (drugging Jin for one), but I feel like that adds to his character complexities if that makes sense. Both Matthew and Jin did fucked up shit to each other trying to indirectly help the other. They grew up in harsh, terrible worlds and didn't feel any real love except for one another. It took them forever to finally get there, but I like that this wasn't a cute and sweet love story. It was messy, chaotic, violent but passionate all the same.
I lowkey feel like the author either got bored or had something else going on because the ending feels sudden and random af. I know this was like 90% smut and all, but I feel like there was more relationship and plot stuff that needed to be worked out.
What about the mom and Misters kids? We've literally rarely seen any indicators that Mister likes Hojin outside of sex. Like I said, I know this was really just a crazy, weird smutty story but I can't be the only one who was expecting more.
