How did he chose to go through his trauma? What? Literally every single shit he had to go through was the consequence of fmcs father, and he was the one who the ml hated. The ml started off definitely wrongly glorifying the fl, which yea is fkin shit of him , but there's a scene where he understands how much distant she too is from the suffering of commoners, that's pretty much what broke him, i mean it's a scene where he talks about death of people he'd consider close and it's brushed off like a side topic with no interest.

Also, you admit he went through trauma but fail to realise how mentally fked he was from that shit, the first half shows how he's probably bipolar or something along those. And he's not just anybody rn, he's got responsibilities and shit so he's just unable to really think only for himself. And idk why you're making him into some kind of monster, he literally was fked in the head but never once does he actively abuse her or assault her. He is stuck in this state of a love-hate emotion towards her and her family.

Also, In that very part, we are shown how he likes her but also can't bring himself to fully like her. This is especially supported by the scene of her miscarriage where he suggests adopting instead. There's also the suicide scene, where he finally understands she's got control over her death (something he doesn't want her to be) and lets her go. Ml is a broken mess that tangled in the fmc too

After this for a while he really doesn't control her, when she's living with brown haired girl. After which comes the war arc, where fmc actively tries getting to to the front lines, where one could die. Probably why he tried using his authority.

Also Annette is NOT a pushover, she grew up shielded from everything, had to take responsibility for her familys wrongdoings, takes her life back in control, learns to live life again while also learning about the world. All while she actively gets away from ml. She also has moments where she's actively in control of the situation, never once does she think about him until she finds out about his situation.

I'll admit, the apology for the ml could've been better, but it's not that fmc forgived him just because, she understood where he came from and it wasn't just his one life that was harmed which fmc understood too. She was actively ignorant to all of the sufferings of people (the scene with the brown haired girl being actively dragged away from the gate). The situation is what made ml what he was, and he fked up definitely, in a way fl fked up with ignorance too, both had to relearn shit in life.

This story is just about how two people were victims of a situation and misunderstandings, hurting each other and learning to live again while finding peace in each other.

I feel like i got too worked up but i will still admit that this isn't a bad written story, sure the ml should've been given more chapters for apologising but i think it's not bad as it is too, and Annette is in no way a pushover.

The story is well written I have said that. It's beautifully woven. Yes her father fucked him over but he never chose revenge until the moment she said to him (yes they sacrificed them selves for this country) referring to his friends. You see that scene where his expectations of her pitying with him and being angry in his behalf where she didn't do that (what he expected) instead she said that. And then he from that one encounter with her decided that she needs to go down and needs to suffer. Not her father. Her. That is what pisses me off. You mention adoption and how "he tried" but the matter of fact is he him self says "i bet she tried to her pregnant because she thought a child would bring us happiness" so no hes mentally fucked. If he has choosen revenge because of her father from the beginning and she suffered from that I'd get it. Chilren often fall victim of their parent crimes. But no he wanted revenge because his pariah wasn't who he wanted her to be. When shes living with brown haired girl he calls constantly takes note of her knows what shes doing and hows shes doing all the time. And yes the front lines have a danger of death true. But even that was her choice even she said respect my human rights. All those people volunteered to go there and that was a risk they took. And because he thought it was too dangerous for her he removed her against her wishes. Regardless of the danger she wanted to stay and even go back there.

It's tue fl was sheltered and fought for her self i recognize that. That's why it pisses me of that the author chose to have her forgive that asshole. She shouldn't have forgiven him.
This isn't a story about a couple going through pain and getting to know each other. That doesn't involve a husband who locks up his wife, drives her to suicide, doesn't want to let her go ANYWHERE and only lets her go when she tried to kill her self twice.

THATS NOT A COUPLE going through hardships thats a victim with a monster.


Sure he has difficulties. Every position of power comes with responsibilities. That doesn't mean he had to cause her that pain. My opinion doesn't change.

No, i think he wanted the revenge against the entire family, not just Annette, she was a special condition because she was someone he loved while also in his broken mind, someone he hated. She was someone for whom he was suffering all the shit thrown at him and that specific moment was what really broke him and truly made him turn against them. I think since he lost his only source of sanity/someone he was holding onto, probably why he truly started plotting the revenge. Even in the very first chapter he admits, she was just a part of his revenge plan.

About him monitoring her when she was with the brown haired girl and even her decision to remain in the front lines, you've also got to remember this was after her multiple suicide attempts(some of which she attempted after lying about being fine i believe or promising not to), although ml was responsible for all of those, he still didn't want the mc to actually die(ik he's stupid and I'll agree). Atp those actions(going to the front line) feels more like of a person who's actively trying to die who's not in their right mind, than what we know, which is of Annette wanting to actually understand the people around her and of her own wish.

Ml did respect her wishes when she was with the brown haired girl and never interfered with her life, and even when paying the divorce fee(forgot what's it called) he didn't cause any fuss.

Also about the part about him locking her up, i think it was partially also due to the fact that the general public was very against her too/against keeping the last bloodline of aristocrat alive, well that's what i got reading the very first chapter too. I think this is also true because we see that other guy that asks Annette to run away with him since he could get help due to her aristocrat bloodline.


I do again agree that ml should've had more chapters where he should've done more.
Maybe i just got too sympathetic with him cause his backstory is just so tragic and following up with that is again a responsibility upon him so i believe he truly never got that chance to improve his own mental state and in this, he dragged fmc too. I also do really love Annette, and i truly do not mean to make her suffering as something less.

But even with all these i still think the ending was done well. I think i wouldn't have minded the ending where they'd have separated either too.

Think we can agree to disagree, i think i might've just gone too soft too, cause i did start off absolutely hating ml too so i get it haha, i might be in the wrong here too.

Hahaah thank you as well XD. It's definitely a perspective and we might be seeing it from different points of view. In my way I also felt a lot of affection for the FL and the hardships she went through and i honestly hoped she found happiness.

Yea seeing her free and later happy was pretty much why i thought the ending was good. She's just so special, i love her sm.
