so many alt endings I've written for characters treated as careless cannon fodder in so many years and never until now have I ever hated another author w such rageful ill. claudine and riette, especially riette.. they did not deserve that.
I don't think claudine is an asshole, I think she's just as broken and lovely as leyla. they're actually very similar. they both wholly believe there is no sacrifice too big for family and that notion guides their every clumsy decision. I wonder what if could have been like had they both been born w the comfy life all kids deserve, they probably would have been the best of friends.
no she is rude and cold to leyla but the manhwa really does not do justice the nuance of those interactions. claudine knows she's being rude to leyla and she struggles w that internally bc her hostility toward leyla has nothing to do w leyla as a person and everything to do claudine needing to secure her position as the duchess. the position she's been groomed for since birth.
I include claudine bc I'm fond of her. her struggles moved me so it was important to me that she find peace by the last page.. she didn't. claudine and riette's story was written thoughtlessly and without dignity, serving only to give the trainwreck main couple a lowrisk, picture perfect everafter.. but when you write the very kind of story where every character is hanging on for dear life, those type of endings are just nasty and disrespectful. warriors deserve to be written as such.
the original art style was better ): does anyone else mess it too?
Yeah :(
The other art styles just don't have the same charm or personality . . .
A lot of what I loved about this comic had to do with how expressive Senniana was depicted in the original style (that and all the cooking)
Now both are gone and she kind of just feels like Amy other nondescript FL from any other story
