I liked how they did the eyes, very enigmatic and dramatic. It was interesting how the mc kept getting tangled up with the original story plot points despite trying so hard to change things. I appreciate the age of the mc, even with that amount of time, it would have been hard to learn everything and set up everything. It's always been pretty unrealistic for these young protagonists to somehow deal with the total culture shock, the loss of family, and then become a major player in the world setting in a few years.
The age gap doesn't bother me, it's clear that the ml wasn't groomed. The mc understood that the story was trying to play itself out, even if certain characters were missing, and he grappled with that early on. This wasn't a story where the ml only knew the mc, he was well socialized, even if he found it unpleasant. It was clear that the mc was ready to step away as soon as the ml had a stable place.

This story makes me so angry! First, there's the minor girl being the sole caretaker for the pdf with dementia, played for laughs. (Then the gym teacher pdf) It's no wonder Memoi has such an extreme reaction to men. Second is the amount of sexual harassment and assault. Third is how Memoi, knowing what Akira is being thrown into doesn't do anything to help, the only thing she does is help him with his first period. Fourth is how Memoi has none of the negative side effects, except the unexpected erection. Fifth is the totally sexist role blueprints that they somehow perfectly fit. And how everyone worships them for fitting into these stereotypes. Especially Memoi... no matter how gross, or mean she is, she gets heart eyes. Sixth is Unbogni (sp?) I like that he states he'll like Akira regardless of the gender, making him bi I guess, but he's just as bad with the sexual harassment. I really feel for Akira, I think this is a pretty realistic portrayal of what would happen in this situation. I don't think enough time was spent on Akira not being able to see his family though.
