What's more something has gone horribly wrong when ML is hated by the majority (among west fans at least). Because there is barely anything likable about him beside his face and pseudo character development won't change the fact that he raped and treated supposed love interest like a trash.
I wouldn't insult anyone for shipping Yahwi and Jooin but would never support them even if they were the only characters in this story because their relationship is toxic, flat and shallow, full of power imbalance etc.
Oh but there are a lot of people arguing that Yahwi didn't rape Join or belittling his crimes. Unfortunately rape is a real life topic so it's obvious people will get uncomfortable with how other readers try to justify, excuse rapist's actions. Or how BL world never treats sexual abuse with any seriousness. And all wrongings are forgotten and forgiven because of cliché sad back story.
Well I find it interesting because it develops a good plot and has more than a minor issue in the story. Honestly, most of the love stories I see that are pure are just filled with sex, then they will have an argument or two; so I just don't as interesting. Matter of fact most yaoi stories are just sex, no plot in my opinion. So, if it's triggering to you and you don't like it, just drop the story as I said. I agree with you on some points though.
Tbh I, myself don't find the plot particularly good. And the whole theme is very repetitive "Painter of the nigh", "Kiss my liar", "BJ Alex", "Caste heaven" and hundreds other titles with the similar trope.
