I take these factors into account when I read yaoi.
1. Plot
2. Art style
3. Good sex scenes would be a bonus.
But the most important one is still the plot. Some mangas that I've read are like.. this dude with teary eyes will look at the guy harassing him and then they have sex. I have nothing to describe it but LOATHE.

These types of insult are detrimental to mental health, and can lead to self harm.
