How does everyone feel about the cliche of rich people saying "you peasants (barely scraping by day by day struggling to bring a bright future to yourselves and your family) have it so easy, at least you don't have your parents providing security for your future and then telling you what to do"? And the worst part is that the characters in stories always feel sympathetic for the rich kids and sympathize with their typical back story of being crushed by expectations and emptiness when they could take on those trials and tribulations to become better than their parents and turn the tables once they reach legal age.

Lol it depends. But it's because Asian parents don't think this way. Regardless of your age you still have to respect your parents, you can't detach yourself from them. And you're not supposed to have a bright future, you have to get the BRIGHTEST future possible for you. I'm from a quite well off family (but not crazy rich), a lot of stereotypes are true I'm a girl though, so the burden is more on my brothers.. (and my boyfriend lol) though they still force me to get good grades, piano and violin lessons (cause if u can play music you'll get a better husband??? Idk )
So I sympathise with these people' lack of freedom and emotional burden. If your parents spend so much money on you you'll start to feel guilty if you can't fulfill their expectations. Not to mention a lot of Asian parents compare their children to other people... zzz but I love my parents, and it does come off with its perks lol. Just don't think because someone is rich then they don't have burden
