I decided to reread this, and I’m starting chapter 3 but like… Not you complaining that the characters look the same from just 2 chapters and the only people they’ve introduced are twin brothers and their uncle / sperm donor

I read from chapter zero so there’s a lot more characters than just the three of them.
It does seem like it’ll be good which is why I hate for characters to all look the same especially in a school or military uniform situation.
I’m only seeing two other characters in chapter zero aside from the initial three, but looking closely I can see what you mean. If I focus solely on their faces, especially the eyes, there isn’t a lot of extreme variation. I do think it gets better further into the story, but I could just be thinking that because their personalities are all so different that I don’t notice lol

Everyone is complaining but I don’t think the story is the issue I think, sadly, the literacy crisis is the issue everything that has happened is completely normal and consistent with what we know of the characters it’s not even that difficult to grasp I’m not sure why everyone seems to be having such an issue. Anyway Kid Mok was sooo adorable eating his cereallll who in the world could possibly abandon him like that, selfish bitches!
I agree although I do think there is more tonal whiplash in the second season. The first season was this humming low grade tension with brief funny moments and the second season is swapping between incredibly serious and slapstick. But in terms of character progression everything makes sense.
I also think 3 dimensional characters are throwing some people off. In most Yaoi's Nanjo would be the seme, Sunhwa the uke and Mokyeon the third love interest that that goes after the uke. This story deconstruct that by putting Nanjo and Mok together and asking the question why this would happen. The answer is simply they are both unstable and manipulating each-other. Toxic love at its finest.
I thought Nanjo was suspicious from the beginning because of the way he so adamantly discussed abuse and was I was proved a bit right when he beat Mok up in that one scene, I was like ohhh so that’s what you’ve been hiding. I love that the first season was like everyone pretending to be each other like Mok was pretending to be a sadist(for many reasons) but ended up being softy Sun was pretending to be soft, and Nanjo who was pretending to be calm and collected is actually a sadist (was it awakened or always underlying) he probably fears that and I can’t wait to see how it develops. I absolutely love a dark love story! I’m glad the dialogue is getting better because it was horribly cringe in the first season.
I agree. I liked the direction the author took. I do want to add I do think Nanjo likes Mok too (as much as he can, they don't really know each-other) but HATED feeling out of control. He kept doing little things to indicate he cared. The soft kisses, not holding his mentally instability against him, giving small reassurances during the sex scene, buying him stuff in the first season and BEING LOYAL WHILE TECHNICALLY DATING SUNHWA. So some of the sadism might just be resentment of his initial treatment that will likely wear off when he gets it out of his system.
The audience forgets Mok was a dick to him at first (arguably raped Nanjo as well but that is a whole nother can of warms). This is one of the best uses of "traumatizing backstories" precisely because Nanjo didn't forgive him because of it. He called him out and Mok genuinely apologized which ironically makes this one of the healthier yaoi's.
Can't wait to see how this wraps up.
Yeah he was sweet, forgiving and patient with him many times and it’s really thrown in our face when Mok says (after the fall out) that Nanjo always had the ability to just ignore or never encounter him (I almost cried on that part) implying because he’s wealthy and powerful Mok never really had the ability to kind of lockhim down. I agree about Nanjo’s resentment. Nanjo probably liked Mok first but was hurt when he kept saying that he’s just using him until he’s no longer entertaining. I too am excited to see this all develop!
